Well, Monday brings us outdoor sport and socialising in gardens
And a nice walk down St Anne's prom, with flask of Cappuccino, a brace of Scotch eggs and a gaggle of french fancies to be warmly received. Hoping the weather remains clement because there's nothing like the smell of sea air and the effervescent sound of a herring gull in flight to warm the cockles of the heart.

See you on the landing craft .. see you on the beaches. Hoozah hoozah!

Do you use Efests? I have been a member on there for years and spend my time arguing with plastics on the football thread constantly.
More of a gigger, only use Efests for the End of the Road forum, but been peeping on the Glasto thread to see views on fests going ahead this year. End of the Road isn't till 1st week of Sep so still hoping for one festival this year.

Just had my antibody results in 6 wks after 1st dose and it said no presence of antibodies detected. I'm immune suppressed so it wasn't guaranteed. It's absolute shattered me tbh. I've been stuck in the flat for 13 month because of this pandemic and another year before that because of an allergic reaction to a prescribed tablet. I've only been to hospitals in all that time. I live with someone who is also clinically extremely vulnerable so i can't just say fuck it in case i bring it back to her. I'm completely down atm, i'd put all my hopes into the vaccine. I can't do another year.
That's hard. You need us to protect you.

I am going Bluedot and the Playground one in Glasgow.

Have a look at the football thread in off topic. Will not take long to work out which poster I am :-D

A very interesting article has just gone up on The Telegraph with an interview with Nadhim Zahawi, Vaccines Minister, saying that over 70s will be getting a booster jab from September. He also says that he expects eight vaccines to be available then with several being manufactured in the UK. One of them will be designed to protect against three different varients.

Under 18s could be vaccinated starting in August and there will be drive through centres for younger people to use.

Our government have been slated for having such a high death rate. But with a 3rd wave seemingly unstoppable on the continent could our rates end up being relatively low compared to the rest of europe ?
You can't really blame the Government for the Kent varriant - only immediate lock down on 18th December when they discovered some of it's implications could have reduced the rate of growth and the reality is SAGE only recommended lock down after Christmas day when they confirmed how infectious it was. The reality is it is 50-60% more infectious and what used to work restricting the spread of Covid-19 no longer does. Prior to the Kent variant taking off we were following the same trajectory as other European states. But under the covers starting in mid September, it was increasing it's numbers starting slowly, by the end of November it was the dominant strain and then cases took off exponentially.
Elsewhere in the world, starting in December from low levels, new varriants are now doing the same across the world.
Czechia, Hungary, Montenegro, Belgium, Slovenia and Bosnia have now overtaken our death rate. Bulgaria and a few others will do so in a couple of days and Italy within 30 days. Maybe France and Spain too.
German desease specialists are also predictcting 500+ a day deaths there in a few weeks time saying in the short term the disease will beat vaccination.
It is a shit storm.
