Very similar on the factory count, Sheffield Brightside is the Yorkshire equivalent of Rossendale !

You're right, it's the fact that Yorkshire is getting the Kent variant last, though those unprotectable factories are the places where it spreads. That said, there are plenty of postcodes in Sheffield, for example, with less than 3 cases in the last week, and I suspect most positive cases are relatively young and fit now.
Then clearly the factories are not following social distancing rules. They should be shut down.

if Hospitals fill up to max capacity and ICU/beds are running out - then there is no other choice but to lockdown.
Then what will that mean? The vaccines havent worked. Which firstly isnt what the data has indicated at all. And secondly if thats the case then most people I speak to think endless lockdowns for all ages isnt sustainable.

Do you really think the majority of society will accept lockdowns for the rest of our days, I dont.

I think the vaccines will work and we won’t need another lockdown. However if they don’t and hospitals fill again what is your alternative to lockdowns ?

Selective lockdowns for those at most at risk. We essentially do this for people undergoing chemotherapy. Sure society will have to change but its completely unrealistic to condem younger generations to a life of lockdowns.

We'll get out of this providing there isn't a variant surprise. So mitigate against them. That's been the message since the New Year.

I never said that’s a possibility- I’m just saying if for whatever reason in the future from a contagious virus and hospitals are reaching max capacity- then Governments would lockdown.

I have no idea on the latter. If furlough and some ease of restrictions here and there, then most probably the majority would abide.

I see Novavax are moving some of there vaccine manufacturing in Europe (finishing) to the UK because they believe the EU will treat them like AstraZenica.
The EU vaccine omnishambles continues.

Finishing to be done by GSK at their Barnard Castle plant

furlough isnt an answer. Im guessing you kind of know that what i said is inevitable if the vaccines dont work.

Concerning, but its the trend that matters. As long as the trend contines downwards then these spikes can be deemed acceptable.
I just checked the numbers in hospital this year and on virtually every Monday the figure has shown a slight increase or been static over the previous day, as Healdplace often helpfully notes.

Be reassured; on 18th Jan there were 34,336 Covid patients; now it's down to 3,466. A 90% drop since the peak.

Data here;
