Mum coming round later, her first time out of the house apart from going for vaccines since last year. Sitting in the back garden, even if she only stays half an hour it will be a big step forward.

Everything is levels of normality, and trying to keep too many people from taking the piss. We are off to the in-laws shortly for a roast dinner - both of them have had both jabs, me and the missus have had our first. No difference whether we have this dinner now or in 3 months or 3 years time, at some point life goes on.

For a fair few months now plenty of neighbours near me have been mixing. Young couples, kids, grandparents, in and out of houses, restrictions or not. My parents and my sister have said the same is happening where they live. People have been mixing in supermarket since it started and other shops that have been allowed to open. The only things shut the majority of the time have been leisure and hospitality. I think at some point life has to go on. We have lost a year of normality already, life is short enough as it is.

15 England hospital deaths - O from NW.

Easter weekend numbers demand real caution obviously.

Last week was 23 and 0.

But people don’t or they certainly didn’t last year, I went in tk maxx loads without masks touching stuff no one enforcing anything, then went to a restaurant all done proper distance etc and guess which one had to shut down!
Missus runs the social club at a local non league team trying to get them to mask up sign in and generally stick to the rules was impossible players were worst.

Scotland data:

0 deaths - was 0 last week

343 cases - was 422 last week

2.7% positivity - was 2.6% last week (first rise in a while - will be really low testing today I expect).

Scotland vaccination update:

2, 553 837 first doses given - 17, 948 today - was 20, 141 yesterday & 27, 351 last week

451, 057 second doses given - 16, 116 today - was 20, 401 yesterday & 22, 503 last week

Thanks, I feel the need to do this on a monthly basis.

Only 5 of the 15 England hospital deaths were aged over 80 btw - that is 33%.
I know people will continue to die of this but it's heartbreaking when you think some of these could have been saved if the vaccine had come a little earlier for them. That's not to disparage the sheer fantastic efforts of the scientists etc, just that some got through the first 12 months and then died as the rest of us were beginning to see daylight.
