The issue here being that a healthy under 30 year old is at risk or rare blood clots. We haven’t got anywhere near vaccinating under 30’s year so what’s to say the chances of this in under 30’s far exceeds that. If the risk of the vaccine outweighs the risk of the virus what would you do?
Europe vaccinated younger people I believe. Also should we ban the pill for the under 30s? as the risk seems greater than them taking the AZ vaccine? Straight question?

I think at the moment too few second doses (bearing in mind it's one in a million or something) to tell, as I read it.

I don't think there is any suggestion whatever that u30s are *more* at risk than other age ranges - just that they are *less* at risk from COVID, so the risk:benefit is different.

I'm 51 and will be going ahead with my 2nd dose.
Exactly right. As can be seen below under 30s have around a 1 in 10,000 chance of dying of Covid if they catch it, and it progressively goes up to 1 in 100 at around 65. If the vaccine has a 1 in a million chance of causing a lethal blood clot, it makes sense for those with a 1 in 10,000 chance of being killed by Covid to hang on a few weeks for the other vaccine whereas if your chance of being killed by Covid is 1 in a 1000 or more you'd risk the 1 in a million vaccine as soon as possible.

Yes, I'm 46 and have only have used the pill for 3 months in my early 20s then had to stop due to my leg swelling and family history of dvt. Never used it again.

Had to inject myself daily with an anti clotting thing for my entire pregnancy age 41 due to high risk. Am currently waiting for a scan on a lump on back of leg that consultant worried was possible clot ( but 3 was on still no appt so yes I guess they can't have been that worried..).

I am pretty scared of having the Oxford despite being so desperate for the vaccine. I was hoping we'd be on moderna in a week or two but now that's not likely as they will save it all for under 30s.

I got called a few days ago to have it! But had a bad cough so they said to wait til better. I just don't know what to do. My leg still hurts, my breathing has gone poor the last week and a resting heart rate is 110 instead of 80 to 90. So already worried that lump was a clot that's on it's way to my lungs! Had a covid test 2 days back so I know it's not that.

Nervous. Don't know what to do.
I understand that and suggest you chat to your doctor. She (or he) will have the best take.

Its a harder choice at 46 but from my understanding safer than 36 and much safer than 26.

At my age it is a different balance and I am pretty certain my doctor will strongly advise to go ahead.

But I am going to talk over my concerns and I suspect a few GPs will be having such conversations in coming weeks.

Though to both you and I I strongly suspect the answer will be much the same.

You gain more and risk less by taking it.

My wife started with gel as she wasn't keen on patches, but has recently switched to spray which is relatively new and very convenient.

She had to push the doctor initially to get what she wanted.
Many of my friends did too and urged me to get off the pills. This just might tip me into doing that. My GP might agree if it persuades me to have the second AZ jab!

Are the MHRA and JVCI also plotting to increase Pfizer profits, or is it just perfidious Europeans who have dastardly motives?
No idea - I'm not necessarily pegging the machinations of big pharma on the Europeans. They are probably just bedding in the corporate breeze.

I can assure you it does get attention amongst women of which I suspect there are few on here. But the risks are well known and discussed.
Ok understood, but its not banned is it? its deemed an acceptable risk for a non life saving drug, When you look at the risks of various drugs I cant help feeling the measures adopted by the regulators for the AZ vaccine are being driven by the media and not the science?
