The fact that we are now at 1.3 million shots shows that already the rate is going up and the Oxford roll out has barely got going. That must mean they have speeded up with Pfizer so if they can keep going with that and really ramp up Oxford then we should start seeing big numbers daily.

My uncle had his first shot of the Pfizer vaccine at Salford Royal before Christmas and he is still booked in for his second shot on Thursday.
good.

I work in the industry, not in the NHS but for a local authority. Every single on of those courses re there for a reason. Not the reason you think and its not usually something that mangers want as it makes it harder to find and train staff... But whilst people still sue the NHS daily, all those courses are to say that the person has done an awareness day thus they are less likely to have a no win no fee nob ed trying to make money on nonsense claims. Literally half of my job is about not getting a legal case brought against you. Thats the real issue.
This kind of suing nonsense needs irradicating by changes in law.

What did people make of the roads today? I was walking the dog this evening at 5pm and it was pretty busy on the main road off the Motorway. I thought roads would be fairly quiet like March/April.

I found it unexpectedly busy, we worked all the way through the last lockdown and remember how clear the roads were. Today was completely different, that said in the last lockdown we furloughed 80% of the people on site. This time round nobody is being furloughed and we are actually looking to increase the people on site. I think many companies who shut down last time have decided to stay open.

Between them, Boris & co have made a pigs ear of it from day 1 & we have not learned lessons from other countries
While other countries were shutting borders or at least making people self isolate. We carried on without a care in the world. While countries around the world cancelled sporting events we carried on regardless. Our
track & trace system was an expensive disastor. We paid fortunes for PPE which wasnt fit for purpose
We promised to place a(ring of steel) around Old Peoples Home) that was a false promise
Rules seemed to change on a whim .Ministers made statements then were contradicted hours latler
Nightingale Hospitals were hailed a great sucsess but were hardly used .Told not to wear maks then told to wear them .Go to school, dont go to school
Eat out dont eat out
Boris was going to save Christmas then he didnt
I could go on & on but it just gets more depressing
NewZealand & Australia to name a couple of countries went in hard & early and are reaping the benifits
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but sadly we just dont seem to have learnt a thing over last 9-12 months
Fingers crossed we can get the vaccine rold out at quickly as the government are telling us
My thoughts & sympathy lies with everyone who has been effected by this living nightmare .Lets hope our leaders get us out of this mess sooner rather than later

Feeling better after listening to Vallance and Whitty. They are very credible.

I thought the infection levels were high but the trajectory in the SE is encouraging.

The vaccine strategy seems deliverable

Yeah same tbh. Thought it was the most interesting press conference in ages.

There is a dr on sky saying on the ground they are seeing re-infections but it is difficult to assess how many in total , something to watch as immunity is far from asured still

i, and many millions of others, cannot cope with this shit again. I understand the point you make about new pressures, but i believe that people will not accept being shut away again with apparent lower risk to under 60s. That sounds callous but that is how it will be interpreted by many
i wouldnt concern yourself with looking ahead a year , nothing you can do now but stick to the lockdown and look foward to spring although i think more realisticaly the summer
