Coronavirus (2021) thread

It's crashing in India. That does not sound like a virus that is capable of widespread reinfection whatever the media scare stories about vaccinated patients in Scotland might suggest.

For anyone in the dark, a few articles in Scottish papers this morning about 6 vaccinated patients in hospital with the Indian variant, at least one (possibly more) of whom have had two doses. As far as I know there's no information available as to their condition or the timescales of receiving their vaccine/becoming infected.

As for India, still 320,000 odd cases yesterday with reports that you could add another zero onto the end of their figures to get closer to the truth. Official figures are certainly showing a plateau or a small decline, but I think the term crashing is a perhaps bit much. Hopefully they will, and hopefully soon.

i missed the last few data of this thread and in fact, the presser last night.

Without getting too emotional in what was said, is it a ‘let’s see his it plays out’ until the June date and assess then?
I spotted a barrage of links to the press conference on FB from the usual suspects frothing but I can see everyone is at the end of their tether.
I think this year feels odder than last year.

Surreal and Mediterranean weather for months on end. Now we’re left in the damp with ingrained behavioural changes.

Let’s hope we can climb the final hurdle.

As an aside I went for another in last night and was the worse run of my life.
I thought I’d shaken long covid symptoms, but was struggling for breath then the heart started racing and I’d abandoned (genuinely worried I was going to collapse).
I was v tired yesterday so may have exacerbated it but be in no doubt this can be a fucker of a disease.

I don't know what your going on about. Cases and (non oxygen related) deaths are roughly the same. The only difference is the Indian government has got its shidt together with oxygen supplies with help from the rest of the world.

I think the cautious approach is the right option at this stage. The people who are advocating the postponement of the next step on the 21st June are probably the same ones who were advocating bringing it forward at the start of the week (not those on here I hasten to add).

On your own issue sorry to read that your still having issues with this bugger, hope that it clears up sooner rather than later and take care.

Is anyone up with the latest on re-infection ?
- are non-vaccinated people being re-infected with regularity or is it still an unusual event?
- does the Indian variant increase/decrease the chances of re-infection?
