Coronavirus (2021) thread

i missed the last few data of this thread and in fact, the presser last night.

Without getting too emotional in what was said, is it a ‘let’s see his it plays out’ until the June date and assess then?
I spotted a barrage of links to the press conference on FB from the usual suspects frothing but I can see everyone is at the end of their tether.
I think this year feels odder than last year.

Surreal and Mediterranean weather for months on end. Now we’re left in the damp with ingrained behavioural changes.

Let’s hope we can climb the final hurdle.

As an aside I went for another in last night and was the worse run of my life.
I thought I’d shaken long covid symptoms, but was struggling for breath then the heart started racing and I’d abandoned (genuinely worried I was going to collapse).
I was v tired yesterday so may have exacerbated it but be in no doubt this can be a fucker of a disease.
Never mind all that, what we want to know is did you see that bird again? ;-)

Zoe App

Predicted Cases 2602 - slightly down.

North West now up to the dark pink zone with Scotland, Yorkshire and London. The main areas with the new variant I assume.

Predicted symptomatic cases 32, 991 (a little down - first fall in a week)

NORTH WEST NUMBERS

Oddly Oldham is now THE focus of GM in Zoe. Worse than Bolton. Yet last night was best in GM and had just 4 cases!

(Predicted active cases / Estimated cases per million population locally / Both V yesterday)

OLDHAM 543 / 2321 v 430 / 1837 - a wall of dark pink to its east and south in Yorkshire and High Peak sees it still going up on Zoe. Not showing in the daily actual case numbers though as yet.

BOLTON 516 / 1822 v 1209 / 4267 - Down a lot which matches the case fall yesterday. In a lower tier to Oldham now and so fingers crossed.

THESE NOW THE ONLY TWO GM AREAS ON ZOE IN ANY WATCH ZONE (OVER 1000 estimated cases per million.)

Others GM Areas:-

BURY 70 / 372 v 29 / 152 v - big jump up matching the reported high cases yesterday. Its most in weeks.

MANCHESTER 321 / 589 v 657 / 1204 - good fall taking it out of the one day pink zone. Could tip either way.

ROCHDALE 40 / 182 v 32 / 147 - small increase

SALFORD 47 / 188 v 158 / 624 - big fall here.

STOCKPORT 176 / 609 v 373 / 1290 - dropped out of the pink watch zone and whilst still high a lot better

TAMESIDE 49 / 217 v 38 / 170 - a small rise

TRAFFORD 196 / 837 v 101 / 433 - big rise which might be of concern. Close to going into the 1000 watch zone.

WIGAN 169 / 521 v 121 / 374 - another borough going up but not yet to the level of Trafford

Chorley is now THE hot spot in NW not Bolton on 465 / 4011

Fylde (Blackpool) is well down on 135 / 1719 v 172 / 2188.

Huge swathes of West Yorkshire now reporting worse than much of the North West in Zoe.

Wall to wall pink from Huddersfield to just outside York and south to outskirts of Sheffield.

Leeds on 2270 / 2895 is highest

High Peak (Glossop/Whaley Bridge/Buxton) has also shot up from nowhere to 223 / 2436

Just a reminder data is more limited now at weekends.

No hospital data anywhere until Monday. And no data today at all from Wales.

It was nice and civilised, 6 guys all over 50 having had both jabs. Takeaway curry before the game, few beers and then some nice wine. Felt close to normal. Thoroughly enjoyable game.

On the sombre side, Covid has destroyed our confidence in normality and that’s not right, or good. Watching this thread for news, watching Boris bumbling away. It’s shit and life just can’t be shit any more after such a miserable winter. Better weather hopefully on the way, got to have some joy.
Anyone of the 6 could have been carrying it, given it to you and you are now spreading around your community unawares.

Still you enjoyed the game so that is ok.

Talking of Wales of the 22 boroughs their weekly Pop scores (just like the ones I post nightly for GM - currently ranging from Bolton miles on top at 282 down to the best in GM - Oldham - on 20 - the 'worst' in Wales is Newport on just 28 - with only Oldham and Salford not above that score in GM.

In the rest of Wales only Cardiff, Wrexham. Ceredigion and Gwynedd are NOT in single figures (ie below 10.) The other 17 are - right down to Anglesey and Blaenau Gwent on just 3! And all of them better than everywhere in GM right now.
