I was told 3 weeks ago that we are preparing for another peak in the middle of July.
We can all remain upbeat and confident that the vaccInes will do the busines and hospitalisations and therefore deaths are massively reduced.

That will literally give us all a further huge shot in the arm .

Cumulative 1st and 2nd jabs, published today, up to last week sometime.

that blue line on the way up is 40-45 (looks a bit like 70-75 in the legend). 45-50s is levelling off a bit early....

you can see that in reality, over 70s only completed their second jabs in the last fortnight, so we can expect another 6 (8?) weeks until near completion of 2nd jabs in the over 60s. I dont think June 21 will go ahead until this is done, and perhaps even over 50s.

So nothing we didn’t already know. Maybe a small wave.

The fast majority of vulnerable and elderly people have been double Vaccinated, but the use of the term 3rd wave is coming is going to scare a lot of people that have isolated and followed the rules, I know my mum who's 90 is scared stiff of leaving the house

Who told you that? They clearly aren’t in the know as per what the government are thinking as they are still planning to reduce measures in June.

Would you prefer to be prepared and knowledgeable about what is happening or just happy clap and then get slapped down when the gov has to react? Id suggest the latter is far more damaging mentally.

There is literally nothing scaremongering in his comment at all, sounds reasonably well thought out.

1) There will be a 3rd wave. its inevitable the same way the 2nd wave was inevitable. there will be a lot of cases, hopefully a far smaller % wise of those will end in hospital and a lot less % of those will end up dead due to the level of vaccines now.
2) we are racing to vaccinate people, that's pretty obvious to everyone.
3) the Indian Variant spreads quicker than the Original and the Kent Variant. so the virus has got quicker. we need to up the vaccinations to match.
4) we are surge testing and surge vaccinating to smother hotspots at the source.... that will fail in the long run, its a mitigating factor, which leads back to point 1.

I get your point but it all becomes rather mundane and predictable every day.
I appreciate SAGE are doing their job but personally I think some of their "experts" are enjoying their moment in the sun too much and don't want to relinquish the spotlight they are having and will do anything to scare and cause anxiety.
That idiot Ferguson too gets an interview every week, the idiot who broke lockdown rules last year, another one who makes wild predictions and forecasts throughout his career and has consistently been proved wrong. Yet they keep asking him for interviews, why?

Just my take but what lots of people are forgetting is the mental health issues it's creating with all this, now nearly 14 months in. The press, SAGE and the goverment need to just fucking get on with it and stop pussy footing around and been ruled by SAGE.

That's disappointing. I thought a double vaccine dose was pretty much guaranteed to keep you out of hospital. Obviously not :-(

Ferguson's predictions clearly are not wildly off are they tho? a prediction of 500k deaths if we did nothing now seem like an underestimate does it not? seeing as we had 150k with lockdowns and measures that prevented the NHS getting overrun.

Those experts will more than likely be contact by press for quotes, doubt many of them are actually contacting the press to give them interviews.

You honestly think the NHS etc wont be prepping for a 3rd wave?. if they are not then something is very very wrong as they should be prepping for worst case just in case things go awry.

I guarantee all areas will be prepping for the worst while hoping for the best.
