but arnt Sars and Mers still in circulation, but are now much less serious as they have mutated to become so?

SARS no, that was eradicated. only exists in labs now, only had 8k or so known cases, last known case was in 2004
MERS yes, keeps jumping from Camels to humans but is easily managed due to severity and only transmissible when symptomatic.

Wales data:

AS ALWAYS ON MONDAY - TWO DAYS - SATURDAY & SUNDAY - TOGETHER

0 deaths - was 0 last week

670 cases - was 484 last week

2.8% positivity - was 1.9% last week

Surely we've got enough data from Bolton and GM over the past month that shows hospitalisations and deaths aren't going to get anywhere near the previous peaks.

The vaccines have done their job. We need to worry more about our economy now. The time for protecting the anti-vaxers has passed.
Bang on. Well put.

Couldn’t give a shit about the anti-vaxers, they are entitled to their opinion as much as the flat earth society is, but I do worry about those who are immunosuppressed because of cancer treatments who aren’t able to have the vaccine.

That said and I say this as someone who has pretty much stuck with the rules throughout, we really do need to get back to a semblance of normality, if only to let the teens and younger adults to get on with living their lives.

'Possibility' restrictions could be extended beyond 19 July, says SAGE scientist

The "ferociously infectious" Delta variant could see Freedom Day pushed back again, a member of the scientific group advising the government has told Sky News.

Professor Peter Openshaw said it would be a "mistake" to bring the date forward from 19 July as vaccination rates are not yet high enough.

"It's so important that we get the vaccination rate as high as we can before any easement of restrictions," he told Kay Burley.

He said it was a "possibility" the lifting of restrictions could be pushed back again.
So, that's the view of one of the SAGE members - not the whole panel, and certainly not of the government.

I really think they need to agree not to do press interviews on their own like this. The media quickly whip up one persons opinion into 'fact'.

I don't think there's any chance Johnson pushes it back from July 19th, even if the science told him to.

This morning I was hearing on BBC news that Sajid Javid's looking to bring it forward to Monday because that's what the majority of the party wants.

Zoe App data

Predicted cases up a lot today - by 1116 (three times the rise of yesterday) up to 22, 874

Ongoing symptomatic cases also rise - up 10 432 (3000 or so more than yesterday) to 284, 788

Scotland still the dark Maroon band but down a bit. Range 351 - 1485 Pop Scores.

North West still the only region in the next darkest red watch zone and has risen a little. At 452 - 864 from 444 - 859 yesterday. But the rises in Scotland and North West do seem to be flattening.

Two of the three regions in the band immediately below are rising

London up slightly to 316 / 594 from 290 / 564

NE & Yorkshire rises into this watch zone on 184 / 609

Midlands linches up to 191 / 574 from 186 / 568

But South West has fallen slightly again to 198 / 466 from 208 / 489

Every other England region is in the lowest light pink watch zone.

Only Northern Ireland is still white and no watch zone rating there.

In the North West Liverpool down a little at 22, 951 from 23, 533 but leads the way in the UK now.
Wirral has now also gone maroon up to 7206.

Preston is rising too on 10, 879 ahead of much of GM.

Carlisle has climbed too up to 9181.

In GM Oldham now is top on 17, 192.

Manchester is down to second though up to 14, 976 from 13, 792

But Rochdale has jumped up a lot over the past 2 days and is third on 12, 038

With Salford fourth on 10, 927 down from 12, 761

Bolton now in fifth just in the higher wartch zone on 10 , 691 - a little down.

Other GM numbers :-

Trafford next on 8623 down a touch from 8821

Then Bury 8403 - down from 9553

Tameside rises to 6054 from 5045

But Wigan falls to 5403 from 6101 which is at odds with its high real life cases

Leaving as still the lowest in GM though inching up:

Stockport on 3945 up from 3500

In Yorkshire Leeds on 12, 183 has escalated steeply and is now above most GM areas.

In Scotland Glasgow City on 21, 537 is up from 20, 863 and now closely vying with Liverpool for highest scorers in UK.

Though Scotland is a sea of dark red. Much like the NW and Yorkshire now is

London now encircked by maroon areas - almost every borough included.

Even Westminster now - which has turned pink - possibly caused by high cases (on 5288) or Hancock's blushes.

I could fill the page as it is easier to look at the map and say where Covid is not rising.

It is pretty much everywhere now.

we'll be at 90% of UK Adults had their first dose by July 19th and 65% had their second dose

If we can't get rid of all restrictions then at the height of summer we never will.

If we wait till the initial adult roll out is complete (Sept), lockdown fetishists (indy sage) will just say we need to keep it for Flu season and till the boosters/ school kids are done.

Should be 2 weeks hotel quarantine for anyone who hasn't had 2 doses though, 2 doses you should be able to travel anywhere really.
