According to the Zoe app, case have plateaued in Bromsgrove LA and are now slightly declining. Good news.
From the data i am seeing across the land , I would remove all restrictions except face masks on 19th July and remove those a month later.
The time is nearly upon us when Delta has to let rip to give our children what 50 year old plus folks have - an immune system to beat this virus (because the next variant may not be so sparing of our young - symptoms ARE getting more severe for the yong with each new variant).

@Ric you getting commission for the amount of times Marvin mentions variants?
If it was just a matter of vaccinating people or waiting until immunity builds towards herd immunity it would be straightforward logistics. Only it's a moving target.

Do you know that on average for each infected person there are an estimated 0.5 mutations in this virus. If you take the total number of daily infections per day (just those reported), then that's half a million mutations a day. This means that every time this virus spikes, the probability of new strains emerging also spikes.

I’ll be reposting this thread quite often regarding those that are double vaccinated and how they will start to form a higher percentage (than at present) of those resting positive - it’s not bad news:

Yep, evolutionary pressure on the virus is to evade the vaccine, so it's almost inevitable. The good news is that in evolutionary / survival terms the vaccine has no interest in killing its host, but just in spreading. Therefore (hopefully) as it sidesteps the vaccine in terms of contagiousness it will actually become less deadly - partly due to the vaccine and partly in its own evolutionary interest. (fingers crossed).

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but when reporting my regular LFT test the site actually asked for my address whereas previously it has just been asking for the postcode. Makes you wonder if they are doing some cross referencing against the vaccine database to see who is still outstanding with a view to starting a door to door vaccination programme to target the stragglers.

I noticed this the other day too. Which was odd as I always use my NHS login and my address is already on file.

Might be that they’re just making sure they have up to date records - people move house etc

A nice theory but it doesn't seem to be working in respect of this virus, and if you think of historical illnesses like the plague or TB there doesn't seem to be any evidence for it. If anything, reports suggest that the Sars-Cov-2 strains are getting more virulent rather than less.

Yes, i must immediatly qualify this by explaining my actual medical knowledge is confined to what I have read on the back of a packet of Lemsip!

And even if we get it sorted in this country so that spikes are reduced, it's still running wild in the rest of the world where a variant could emerge that (god forbid) evades vaccines and make it's way here. That's why we need to do more than pay lip service to giving vaccines to developing countries - for our own sake as much as anyones. As has been noted by some commentators, 'we're not safe until everyone is safe'.
