Government advice just posted to the most vulnerable,

Do not mix with those unvaccinated. Do not go out to work if you do not have to. Do things outside not inside.

This seems to fit the idea that this is really putting the responsibility for choice onto people themselves not an edict from government.

We do need to take steps in that direction as you cannot impose order in a democracy forever,

Though I do wonder how someone vulnerable is meant to know if they are mixing with the unvaccinated.

Andy Burnham - unsurprisingly - just slammed the government over their plans...

Some are calling it fear day not freedom day apparently.
Heard him utter the same on Radio 4 this morning, a term he’d obviously coined himself. Both terms, freedom day/day of fear, are ludicrous soundbites and politicians should be avoiding them. In the Netherlands, the health minister has been chastised for encouraging youngsters to take the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine (manufactured by Jansen) and to go ’dancing with Jansen’. That led people to get vaccinated, not bother waiting two weeks for its protection to take effect and instead go to nightclubs immediately. Needless to say, a small number of these youngsters were already infected and went on to infect many, many more.

They should be made to ring a bell………..

I will continue to wear masks in shops and on public transport. I guess those who will suddenly stop on Monday haven’t been complying anyway. What I will not do, as I was expected to do 2 weeks ago, is sit through a 3 hour theatre show with a mask on. All 25 of us, in a 250 capacity theatre.
Pretty much where I'm at. Mask wearing in shops and on the bus and train for the foreseeable but I won't be wearing one when back watching City in August

He says there are going to be lots of frightened vulnerable people expected to go out and face seeing people without masks because they have been told it is not mandatory.

I get that psychological hurdle. Have faced it myself. It will be a case of slowly slowly.

But at least they have the choice to isolate still if they wish, Those who need to work and bring up families have to balance living life versus restrictions in ways that are harder to achieve with the kind of limits that the most vulnerable might prefer.

There is no perfect solution. It has to be a compromise and one that balances lives and livelihoods.
Andy Burnham is an idiot.
