GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.



Oldham 681 / 558 / UP 123 Testing positive 12.1%

Rochdale 655 / 506 / UP 149 Testing positive 12.0%

Wigan 569 / 527 / UP 42 Testing positive 11.4%

Salford 566 / 472 / UP 94 Testing positive 11.7%

Trafford 536 / 471 / UP 65 Testing positive 9.2%

Manchester 520 / 513 / DOWN 7 Testing positive 12.4%

Tameside 489 / / 426 / UP 63 Testing positive 10.1%

Stockport 453 / 354 / UP 99 Testing positive 9.0%

Bury 433 / 379 / UP 54 Testing positive 11.3%

Bolton 357 / 298 / UP 59 Testing positive 12.3%



Oldham and Rochdale well up top now.

Wigan, Salford and Trafford all up in the 500s now after some big recent numbers.

Trafford's better days see it falling for first time in a while

Stockport bad days puts it in uncharted territory and Stockport and almost exactly where Bolton was when it was put in special measures in April.

Shows how bad things are in numbers terms in GM right now.

Rarely has it seen everyone so high.

Even 'best' Bolton keeps rising and is now back where it was 6 weeks ago, 357 as the lowest Pop Score in GM is a first I think.


Stockport LOST 14 points on on its overall Pop Score lead over Trafford to now only be 175 ahead of Trafford.

Stockport up 75 - its highest in months ansd Trafford up by 61 - to reach 9226.

Stockport was the last occupant of 8000 club. No more. It is now on 9051. The rate these two are going their stay as the only two under the 10K club in GM will not be that long. May not see out July

Bolton up 50 to 12, 308. The lowest Pop Score rise today again

Manchester up 73 (first time better than Stockport in weeks) - now on 12, 414 .

Rochdale up 99 just missing the ton - made it into the fourth member of the 12 K club after only 12 days in the 11K club! On 12, 020

Alongside Oldham - who went there two days ago - up 97 - now on 12, 113.

Salford rose by 61 - its best day in some time - to 11, 703.

Bury up 57 - second lowest to Bolton - to 11, 350 .

Wigan up by 80 to 11, 375.


So Stockport was on its own for just 2 days in the 8000 club and is with Trafford in the 9K club. But not fr very long on current numbers and it is toss up as to who will make it to the 10 K last. They might eve both go there on the same day.

With Tameside up 64 to 10,067.

Trafford managed to do better than NIL today!

But Stockport and Tameside did least well on 0,2%

Stockport still top on both first and second doses but Wigan is closing the gap.

Most people commenting on that seem to think it’s a data dump and not real. It’s why 7 day moving averages are much more useful than day to day fluctuations.

Seen someone say the last 2 days data have been lagged but still brings the moving 7 day average to around 520 cases per day.

Though in fairness, I don't see Israel as the 'test nation' as they were from around January - April time. That title probably falls on us now, but with a different sort of 'test'.

Why don't we have so called 'Herd immunity' to Influenza ?

I have a 1 week old baby.
Wife's mum hasn't seen baby yet as she has not been jabbed and won't do a covid test (has mental health issues) and wife isn't keen on her seeing her due to covid risk. We are all going to be at a christening together though in about a month so will all be in the same room regardless.

Would you let the grandparent see the child now?

Is your child premature?

I can understand not waiting to be jabbed but not to take a test? If you child is premature I wouldn’t take any unessercary risks.

It’s ripping through Scarborough now, after seemingly holding the worst off for a bit longer than other areas. Not a school in the area running at full tilt, 3 bubbles gone this week in my primary school and now two of my teaching assistants are isolating.
