After hearing all these stories about companies telling their staff to go into the office and work I count myself extremely lucky the company I work for has been absolutely brilliant during the pandemic.
They managed to get nearly a thousand people across 2 sites working from home within 6 days last March. Anything we need like laptops computer equipment ect we can get delivered within 48 to our home address. They have even supplied everyone with webcams so when we have team meeting we can see and talk to our work colleagues.
They have setup support groups for wellbeing and mental health to make sure everyone is ok.
In my job a lot of it is back office work like emails ect but we do have to take calls from customers and other departments with the business however if you are a parent and your child is being home schooled they try to minimize how much time your on the phone So you can home school and do your job at the same time
There does seem to be a big gap between good and poor employers.
I am pleased for you that your company looks after you.
As I moaned yesterday our company office have all been home working since march. Us minions havent been, we have been out and about in and around the public all the time.
We havent heard from our manager since march only when he has something to moan about. We have no policy in place for covid19. We had one very short 5 minute meeting in march telling us the office staff will be working from as they are at a higher risk being in the office.
No guidelines apart from we must wear a mask in the cab , and used hand gel.
We have no memo or calls asking how are we coping, NOTHING in over 10 months.
We are all very nervous and knacked and arent happy about being around the public ( or each other ! ) as the pandemic is out of control in the south east.
Got a text this morning 9:30 from our line manager that a workmate mum ( he lives at home ) that his mum has tested positive. So self isolate and book a test. As that is what we did last time but some managers thought we shouldnt have done that ! As soon as our line manager hears back from our manager he will let us know what to do. Line manager is still waiting.
As the weather wasnt great yesterday we worked around the yard so we were in the same area as the lad , even with our masks on.
