Back to Zoe

South West is closely behind North West and shooting ever up. ON 729 / 935.

In real cases for a tiny populated region which in good times regularly scored 60 - 100 cases a day - it now has MORE cases than the North West and has gone up to near 5000 a day. Though it is mid 3000s now it had more than NW again yesterday,

BUt if NW is rising on Zoe I fear it will too in the actual cases.

Maybe Stockport yesterday was not the exception in GM. Just the harbinger.

Scotland - believe it or not - is still the best on Zoe. At 485 / 749 - though having tripled in 3 weeks.

I can’t see there being any restrictions. The vaccine has turned the virus into one that is comparable with other respiratory illnesses. If anything they may ask the vulnerable to shield until they get boosters or whatever they go with, but the rest of us will just get on with things. The young have sacrificed too much already, unless there is a mutation which is unforeseen then there should be no restrictions even considered again.

Genuine question - what level of death and hospitalisation, say in comparison to the January peak do you think would justify this?

Half as much, the same, twice, more?

Not an attempted gotcha, just trying to understand.

Hope your right

Very good documentary on channel 4 the other night bout whether it started in a lab or not. Some very disturbing info. Turns out the fuckers get hold of viruses that can't affect humans and genetically engineer them so they can. Why they do this, fuck knows but it's scary stuff.
Gain of function research. Yep definitely scary stuff. It’s the potential (not definite) cause of all of this. If so, a serious discussion on the pros/cons of this type of research has to had.

For the first time I am starting to wonder if this really was an engineered natural virus as it seems to be well adapted to confounding our plans.

I know it could just be rotten luck and a well honed predator by chance and vast numbers acting as a petri dish in a way the world has yet had to face.

I am very sure it was not deliberately leaked as my best friend still thinks it was however many times I have told her otherwise.

But a break out from a lab of something designed to defy our ingenuity.

Hopefully not as that would make it all but undefeatable. As the ones behind it will have tried if so.

In all honesty I think if this was some sort of "weaponised" virus then its failed, in the grand scheme of things its not a large killer. Its not as bad as Spanish flu was for example. its enough to cause disruption no doubt but this isn't bubonic plague 2.0 or something similar. If it was something made with intent then surely MERS would have been a better choice?

Also once in the "wild" there would be no way to know what the mutated strains would do.

The question is - if this is correct - say China is found without doubt to have caused it, maybe intentionally where does that leave the world, do countries sue for damages?

Meanwhile, outside this thread, life goes on virtually as normal.

Well, not for the 100 people dying every day...

Of course, the point is to try and make sure life can continue to go on virtually as normal for most people in the face of what looks like rising cases on a high baseline.

I do not think it WAS a weaponised virus for those reasons and others.

What I mean is lab researching viruses and tinkering - maybe even trying to do so beneficially - just got loose by accident.

Nothing beyond that point is in my thinking here.

If this global outbreak had blossomed near Porton Down you can guarantee I would be wondering the same.

Or indeed anywhere they study deadly viruses for all sorts of genuine reasons.

It is the obvious place to eliminate first. Which I know they have to most people's satisfaction.

Not interested in blame as I am certain no intent was involved. I just don't trust coincidences,
