Same with vaccinating kids, if it barely stops them catching and passing it on, what's the point?

Vaccines still help, less people get the virus, when they do they can be contagious but for less time.

so less people getting it and less spread.

the comms around this have been awful mind you.

Well, firstly, even if the 50% figure were right, that means they're half as likely to have it. And 300 deaths are projected if they all get it, which would be near zero if vaccinated. So there's a very strong case.

And the onward transmission data did NOT show there is no benefit, only that one proxy (Ct value for PCR) showed no difference, within considerable error bounds. Other studies have shown transmission benefits.

So at the very worst kids are probably at least 50% less likely to be infectious to others if vaxxed, and probably significantly better than that.

Done two lateral flows this afternoon and both positive. Started feeling a bit ropey last night with a tight chest. Got a PCR test booked for 6:30 but looks like 10 days of isolation for me.
Good luck. I am now on day 8 and still Covid positive. Still very tired but feeling much better after an initial four nights of sweats, headaches, etc etc. I have been up and down but a good radio and Bluemooon has been a Godsend. I have taken lots of asprin, Vit D, Vit C. I am sure you will be fine.

Well 50 per cent is still a lot better than nothing and vaccines are still 80/90 per cent effective in stopping serious illness and death. My concern is this will take years to resolve at those rates so what is the long-term strategy?

Cheers pal. How long did the worst symptoms take to come through? Only really felt anything for the last 24 hours with a tight chest and now just achy and a bit of a cough. Got a feeling that it’s Saturday’s game where I’ve picked it up.

I reckon I got infected on the Friday before Spurs away. I felt tired Sunday, Monday, and the sweats started on Tuesday night and ended by Friday am. I had a mild headache and very runny nose for the first three days, then a dry cough. Now i just feel very tired with a bit of a brain fog. I am still testing positive though. Drink lots of water, lemsip or soluble asprin, tea. Keep your head down and keep the radio on as a distraction (not Talksport obviously). I have had lots of soup. I checked my oxygen levels with one of those fingertiip oximeters. You can get online or in a chemist. I am 62 and double jabbed. Get well soon.

Thanks. Glad you’re on the mend. I’m 46, double jabbed and relatively healthy so hoping it’s a mild dose. Thanks for the advice.

Did you likely catch it travelling/at the game?

Wonder how many will be in that boat?

Good luck & take care bud.

Edit...just seen you've said you were at the game.

I wore a mask on the train but then went in the Waldorf before hand and it’s was rammed in there with no masks. Then was in 115 so I guess it could of been there or on the concourse. First time I’ve really done anything major since coming out of lockdown.

Went to Everton, Wembley and Norwich not Spurs. After Norwich I am considering not going now until the case numbers go back down again. The risk of catching Covid is increasing all the time and I think for my own safety avoiding large crowds has to be a good idea. I am double jabbed but I still don't want to catch Covid or pass it on to anyone else.
