Coronavirus (2021) thread

I'm sure this is tedious but I'll repeat that exposing the entire population to COVID is projected to kill over 100 children. Which sounds pretty harmful to me. And that's without going into the potential long term effects of COVID on children, hospitalisations, etc.

Prolonging the pandemic unnecessarily by not maximising the numbers vaccinated will mean more disruption to the health service, causing more impacts like this, not less.
But the entire population has been exposed to Covid and 100 children haven’t died (reported as 300 likely to die on here earlier this month).
Between March 2020 and Feb 2021, 3105 under 18’s died. Twenty five of those under 18‘s died within 28 days of a positive PCR test. Half of those deaths were in individuals with an underlying complex disability with high health-care needs, such as tube feeding or assistance with breathing. Sadly, their demise might have been hastened but was always likely following any viral disease.

If the entire population had been exposed to it the entire population would have had it. in medical terms exposed == have had it.

fully known ( tested ) cases we're at 6.5m out of 66m population.
