Coronavirus (2021) thread

I don't think there are clear answers to these questions at the moment. There are so many confounding factors.

But I think it is clear that protection from symptomatic infection wanes faster and/or is more prone to new variants than protection from severe disease.
Thanks, that was my impression but was struggling to find any data to support that opinion.

Ah, so you're talking total death rate, not current.

Given that our current death rate is above most of Europe, it's hard to square that with your claim that we're falling on that table, I think?

But again, what's your point here? You're claiming we've done well because we've a lower death toll than Bulgaria? Or...?

I am not getting into it with you. You are another one. I made my point and it’s obvious.

Unbelievable this thread. Cases go down and people conclude it’s because kids are hiding positive tests. You couldn’t make this shit up. Just accept that for now all signs are that providing there are no new deadly variants, this whole shit show is practically over. Enjoy life and stop trying to look for reasons to think the pandemic is still raging.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

ADMISSIONS - THESE ARE FROM THURSDAY, FRIDAY & SATURDAY REMEMBER (48 hours old)

LAST SAT // THIS THURSDAY/FRIDAY/SATURDAY

752 // 790 // 670 // 647

So DOWN week to week by 105 SAT TO SAT.

By regions (LAST SATURDAY V THIS THURSDAY/FRIDAY/SATURDAY) :-

LONDON 88 V 114 / 101 / 109 - UP here a bit week to week

MIDLANDS 148 V 147 / 132 / 123 - Better here day by day

NE & YORKSHIRE 192 V 150 / 142 / 148 - Yorkshire also well down.

AND

NORTH WEST 99 V 147 / 105 / 94

So NW admitted one of the least of the four big regions again and down week to week.

BUT that 94 is on Saturday and what happened today impacts that a lot.

We will not get the NW admissions for today until Wednesday BUT patients increased today by the highest number in the NW and it rose the most in one single day today as NW has in some time UP 86. 10% in one day.

Monday is always a big admissions day so we need to see where this goes as the week continues. But NW adding the most easily today is slightly concerning.

Strange that you can't articulate it if it's so obvious.

nothing strange at all - as I said you are one of them who wants us to perform worst than Europe and have been for months so I am waisting no time on you. Is that clear enough for you?

I think everyone is.

1000 people a week are still dying in the UK and most of the world is unvaccinated. Pretending this isn't happening makes it less likely to go away, not more.

If only 1000 people a week were dying in the UK, times that by 10 and you might be getting close. Forgot that the other 9000 don’t count anymore.

Ah, well you're quite wrong.

I'd like us to emulate Finland ideally, but failing that Germany would do nicely.

Is that clear enough for you?
