And the two nation cases (there will be only England to add as usual today) is:- 7188.

Last week at this stage it was 5722 - so a big jump due to the Scotland 'issues'.

England later added 23, 825 to total 29, 547

Yesterday England added 23, 265.

Lovely stuff

Weirdly and coincidentally I actually saw them today on Alabama Pickers for the first time as I was flicking about on my satellite package. We’ve not lost the cream of the human crop based on my ten minutes viewing.

Wonder if they knew that Madison, who introduced the Bill of Rights, also sanctioned the Act of Vaccination in 1813 to combat Smallpox? Suppose they were just ‘picky’ about their history.

164 all settings deaths - was 156 last week

England deaths 131 today - down from 143 last Saturday.

30, 144 cases - DOWN from 32, 651 yesterday (though that included Wales)

UP from 29, 547 last Saturday (with no Wales) - the increase all due to the Scottish case backlog.

22, 956 in England - down 309 on yesterday & down 869 on last Saturday

So the falls have certainly flattened off at best.

GM AND NW HIGHLIGHTS

NW DOWN 169 on the day to 3708.

GM UP on the day by 31.

Obviously not that good.

NW week to week UP 297

GM DOWN week to week by 38 from 1281 to 1243

So pretty flat really though good to be down week to week when NW is up. GM still doing better v the region.

Within GM Zoe was unfortunately right about Stockport - back up day to day and up 33 again week to week to 168 and will be even further ahead in the worst Pop Score and closer to top of the weekly cases.

But Zoe not right about Tameside dropping down as they had the worst day relatively today with much the biggest Pop Score on the day but a less steep week to week rise than Stockport of 11 to 146.

Zoe also got Bolton as lowest scorer right too, On just 64 cases Biggest weekly fall fro 96 and lowest Pop Score too,

Manchester was back over 200 today (only just - on 203 - matching how many times City played the ball backwards today I think) But that was still down week to week from 242 - which is what matters most.

ENGLAND REGIONS

EAST UP BY 78 - TO 2295 V 2329 - DOWN 349 IN WEEK

LONDON FALLS BY 418 - TO 2179 V 2857 - DOWN 678 IN WEEK

SOUTH EAST FALLS BY 210 TO 2820 V 3077 - DOWN 257 IN WEEK

SOUTH WEST FALLS BY 15 TO 1752 V 2277 - DOWN 525 IN WEEK -

THE MAIN FALLS STILL OCCURRING DOWN SOUTH

EAST MIDLANDS UP BY 133 TO 2434 V 2320 -UP 114 IN WEEK

WEST MIDLANDS UP BY 133 - TO 2969 V 2770 - UP 199 IN WEEK

NORTH EAST FALLS BY 39 TO 1274 V 1594 - DOWN 320 IN WEEK

YORKSHIRE UP BY 251 TO 2707 V 2405 - UP 302 IN WEEK

AND

NORTH WEST FALLS BY 169 TO 3708 V 3411 - UP 297 IN WEEK

THE SPLIT BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH NOW OBVIOUS - SOUTH LARGELY FALLING WEEK TO WEEK AND NORTH STARTING TO GO UP WEEK TO WEEK

HOWEVER.......

GM AS A PERCENTAGE OF NORTH WEST CASES

TODAY 33.5% UP FROM 31.3% YESTERDAY - GM DID LESS WELL V NW TODAY BUT ABOVE EXPECTATIONS

DOWN A LOT THOUGH FROM 37.6% LAST WEEK

GM IS DOING VERY WELL VERSUS THE NORTH WEST REGION WEEK TO WEEK WHICH IS WHAT MATTERS MOST

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1243 - UP 31 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST DOWN BY 169 TO 3708. UNDER PAR SELF EVIDENTLY FOR GM.

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1281 - SO DOWN 38.

NORTH WEST ROSE BY 297 WEEK TO WEEK FROM 3411.

OBVIOUSLY ANY FALL FOR GM AND AS NORTH RISES NEARLY 300 IS A GOOD WEEK TO WEEK CHANGE - SO ANOTHER OK DAY FOR GREATER MANCHESTER

MANCHESTER 203 - UP 10 on day & DOWN 39 wk to wk. Manchester Pop Score up 37. POP SCORE 15, 650

STOCKPORT 168 - UP 34 on day & UP 33 wk to wk. Another bad day here. Pop Score up 57 today. LOSING 11 points back to Trafford to hand back the lead to them as lowest in GM across the pandemic by just 5. But NOT the worst Pop Score rise in GM today at least. POP SCORE 12, 620

TAMESIDE 146 - UP 49 on day & UP 19 wk to wk - Another bad day here too. Pop Score up 64 - highest rise in GM today. 14 K club looms tomorrow here. POP SCORE 13, 952

WIGAN 144 - UP 3 on day & DOWN 4 wk to wk. Pop score up 44 today - POP SCORE 14, 698

OLDHAM 124 - UP 25 on day & DOWN 14 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 52 and now 98 ahead of Manchester for highest overall GM pop score . POP SCORE 15, 748

SALFORD 123 - UP 14 on day & DOWN 19 wk to wk. Pop Score up 47. POP SCORE 15, 376

TRAFFORD 111 - DOWN 44 on day & DOWN 8 Wk to wk - Pop Score up by 46 points today. Good enough to take back the lowest overall Pop Score across the pandemic from Stockport by 5. POP SCORE OF 12, 615

ROCHDALE 93 - UP 27 on day & UP 24 wk to wk. Pop Score up 42. POP SCORE 15, 140

BURY 67 - DOWN 32 on day & UP 3 wk to wk Pop score here up 35 . POP SCORE 14, 551

BOLTON 64 - DOWN 55 on day & DOWN 32 wk to wk - Bolton Pop Score up 22. Best performance of the day as Zoe preducted and lowest Pop Rise. POP SCORE 14, 883

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 497, Rochdale 513, Salford 657, Oldham 676, Bolton 681, Trafford 739, Tameside 759, Wigan 890, Stockport 1049, Manchester 1231

At the right end of the table Rochdale's day on top was just a day and Bury fought back. Salford's long good run has elevated it from chasing Manchester up top to third. Though some way back. And Oldham is close by. As is Bolton.

At the wrong end of the table Manchester had another good fall and gets nearer Stockport every day. So as Stockport wemt up too the gap that was over 1000 a week or so ago. It is now just 182 and Stockport is possibly in the worst place numbers wise it has ever been right now. Still the media hve not seemingly noticed this despite it being obvious for over a week now. By the time they do Stockport will (hopefully!) be going down.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

MANCHESTER 222 // 301 //DOWN 79 WAS 319 (down 97)

ROCHDALE 230 // 305 // DOWN 75 WAS 242 (down 12)

BOLTON 236 // 285 // DOWN 49 WAS 218 (up 18 )

SALFORD 250 // 345 // DOWN 95 WAS 378 (down 128)

BURY 261 // 303 // DOWN 42 WAS 271 (down 10)

WIGAN 269 // 367 // DOWN 98 WAS 259 (up 10)

OLDHAM 284 // 349 // DOWN 64 WAS 287 (down 3)

TRAFFORD 311 // 351 // DOWN 40 WAS 338 (down 27 )

TAMESIDE 334 // 433 // DOWN 99 WAS 384 (down 50 )

STOCKPORT 356 // 363 // DOWN 7 WAS 322 (up 34)

Manchester regains top above Rochdale and Bolton. But all are falling daily and nicely and seem likely to go into the 100s next week hopefully.

Bury, Salford and Wigan are joined by Oldham also sub 300 now too as all ten GM boroughs heads down week to week. Obviously very good news.

Only Stockport is increasing its lead over those below and whilst still JUST going down week to week one more bad day and it will become the only GM riser. It is already one of only 3 up on a month ago as you can see and by the most of those three. So these problams are not short term.

All in all though GM's numbers are looking much brighter than a week ago. And nobody is really having any huge problems now. With the exception of Stockport that is clearly scoring high the most consistently - but not VERY high - and whilst not a disaster could do with some real progress that lasts more than one good day.
