GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1351 - DOWN 210 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST DOWN 479 TO 3965 - AROUND PAR FOR GM WHICH IS OK WITH A FALL BUT ONLY OK .

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1212 - SO UP 139.

NORTH WEST ROSE BY JUST 88 WEEK TO WEEK FROM 3877.

CANNOT SELL A RISE OF MORE THAN THE WHOLE NW AS GOOD BUT NUMBERS ARE SMALL SO DAMAGE IS MINIMAL

STOCKPORT 209 - DOWN 49 on day & UP 75 wk to wk.Not a good day obviously but slight improvement on yesterday. Still the sixth time on the run and seventh in 8 days they score more cases than Manchester. Pop Score up 71 today. Well down on yesterday's 88 but still LOSING 14 more points to Trafford who did a lot better today - to increase their lead as lowest in GM across the pandemic to 76. Stockport beats Trafford by 24 hours into the 13 K club. But at least does NOT have the highest Pop Score in GM today so some small progress there. POP SCORE 13, 041

MANCHESTER 192 - DOWN 5 on day & DOWN 1 wk to wk. Another good day here Manchester Pop Score up 34 - not the best in GM today. POP SCORE 15, 829

WIGAN 175 - DOWN 33 on day & UP 34 wk to wk. Not a great day here either but better than yesterday too. Pop score up 52 today. Low enough to stave off the 15 K club for 24 hours.-POP SCORE 14, 980

TAMESIDE 170 - DOWN 15 on day & UP 73 wk to wk - Another bad day here and relative to Population the worst in GM today. Pop Score up 75. HIghest in GM today. POP SCORE 14, 367

TRAFFORD 135 - DOWN 58 on day & DOWN 20 Wk to wk - Rare fall today. Pop Score up by 57 points today. Good enough to increase overall Pop Score across the pandemic from Stockport by 14 and stay out of the 13 K club and remain last 12K member standing. Likely just for 24 hours. POP SCORE OF 12, 965

OLDHAM 127 - UP 21 on day & UP 28 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 53 and now 155 ahead of Manchester for highest overall GM pop score. Will be the first GM borough into the 16K club tomorrow. POP SCORE 15, 984

SALFORD 113 - DOWN 3 on day & UP 4 wk to wk. Still bucking trends here in the borough Zoe has best in GM right now. Certainly well below the other big boroughs. Pop Score up 43. POP SCORE 15, 626

BOLTON 107 - DOWN 23 on day & DOWN 12 wk to wk - Bolton Pop Score up 37. Bolton's had a better day too. POP SCORE 15, 106

BURY 70 - DOWN 6 on day & DOWN 29 wk to wk. Zoe looks to be miles off beam with Bury saying it is worse than Stockport!!! Pop score here up 37 POP SCORE 14, 771

ROCHDALE 53 - DOWN 39 on day & DOWN 13 wk to wk. Pop Score up 23 - lowest in GM today easily . POP SCORE 15, 336

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 486, Rochdale 533, Oldham 685, Bolton 707, Salford 778, Trafford 942, Wigan 1079, Tameside 1089, Manchester 1201, Stockport 1405

At the right end of the table Bury and Rochdale clear. Bury now sub 500 too.

At the wrong end of the table Stockport rose yet again today to far beyond the worst numbers ever and ahead of Manchester by 204 - which is just strange to see as they are usually at opposite ends of this table.

And still no peep from the media about Stockport.

Tameside and Wigan stay over 1000 but Trafford had a better day and is further away from joining them.

Tameside had a bad day and worse than Stockport so although Stockport is up to its highest Pop Score ever Tameside JUST retook top spot.

But these two are now way ahead of the rest after Trafford dropped below 400 with a good day.

Stockport and Tameside are both above where Bolton was when Delta arrived 5 months ago and they were on the national news. And not even the local news is talking about these two neighbour boroughs being way ahead of the rest and worse than that Bolton outbreak that led to special local measures.

The rest are now a long way back.

Salford has been the best performer over the past month but like half the boroughs now in GM are rising week to week.

But Manchester is still the best still in GM. With Rochdae doing very well too.

A girl of 15 has died from Covid in our town. Her uncle still refusing to have jabs
It is rare but as almost half the cases - so tens of thousands a day - are in the 19 and unders now very rare is happening a handful of times every week.

One brave family should use the legacy of their child to save lives by working with the government to do a TV ad about getting the jab. Only something like that might hit home with their peer group who will feel invulnerable because they largely are from this consequence.

That would be such a hard thing to ask any family but it could turn the tide and make some sense out of this kind of tragic event.

ZOE APP NEWS

Quick update at half time

TODAY'S UPDATE

NOT GOOD NEWS TODAY.

Predicted cases are

UP BIG FROM 47, 945 TO 50, 251 - a rise of of 2306 UP from a rise of 1645, 1219 & 622 & 719 in the days before.

It WAS 44, 205 last week - a RISE week to week of 6046 - biggest jump in some time

Ongoing symptomatic cases more happily FALL - just about

FROM 665 , 763 TO 664, 364 A FALL of 1399 after fall of 3489 yesterday and after a RISE of 14, 718 the day before following FALLS of 3973, 3256, 7276, 10, 561, 1392, 5951. in past week.

IT WAS 669, 039 last week. A weekly fall of 4675 DOWN from weekly fall of 15, 229 yesterday and WAY down from the falls of 36, 638 and 37, 160 wk to wk in previous days.

There is always a lag to the change in ongoing cases after a rise or fall in daily case numbers as ongoing cases persist and are not just counted on the day of first report.

ZOE APP DATA

TODAYS DATA

REGIONS:-

BIG CHANGES IN THE WRONG DIRECTION TODAY SADLY

North West moves UP but falls into FIFTH place as North East back up quite a bit today.

NORTH WEST UP a little to 784 / 1046 FROM 773 / 1027 .

NORTH EAST rises above by much more to 709 / 1158 FROM 640 / 1055

WALES stay top and UP big too. Scotland falls to seventh place but still in the second highest watch zone. Northern Ireland still second but is DOWN today.

ALSO YORKSHIRE NOW JOINS WALES AND NORTHERN IRELAND IN THE HIGHEST RATED WATCH ZONE

N Ireland DOWN on 591 / 1614 FROM 612 / 1633

East Midlands is in the second tier below the top one of Wales, Yorkshire & Northerm Ireland

That watch zone in order is now North East, North West, East Midlands & Scotlan

Indeed East Midlands is UP again today on 661 / 934 FROM 656 / 922

The other five regions are all now in one zone below - West Midlands, East and London. With South East & South West the lowest two but OUT of the lowest of watch zones to join those three.

AS YOU CAN SEE THE SOUTHERN REGIONS ARE OUTPERFORMING THE MORE NORTHERLY ONES BUT THEY ARE STARTING TO GO UP NOW A BIT TOO

South West is now BEST in the UK again - but UP FROM 427 / 588 TO 458 / 627

South East next lowest is UP too on 479 / 603 FROM 456 / 575.

East is next UP on 531 / 712 FROM 500 / 673

Yorkshire is well UP today. On 858 / 1169 FROM 834 / 1134

Where Scotland still falling in sixth is UP today too on 684 / 969 FROM 667 / 941

ZOE APP DATA

TODAY

GREATER MANCHESTER:-

Bury still TOP - JUST - edging UP on 11, 054 FROM 11, 004.

Stockport back into second BUT slightly UP on 11, 027 FROM 10, 701 - it has been very flat for days at this kind of level.

Rochdale moves UP to third and into the higher watch zone on 10, 638 FROM 9197

EVERYONE ELSE STILL IN THE LOWER WATCH ZONE

Tameside moves up to fourth- also UP - on 9073 FROM 8634 - probably should be higher given the real data

Manchester is fifth DOWN slightly on 8997 FROM 9237

Wigan sixth UP on 7852 FROM 6710

Trafford is seventh also UP a little on 6833 FROM 6549

Oldham stays eighth also UP on 6440 FROM 5515

Bolton edges UP in ninth on 5055 FROM 4636

BUT BEST IN GM AFTER WEEKS OF DAILY FALLS IN THE REAL DATA TOO IS STILL :-

Salford - DOWN on 3070 FROM 3082

REST OF NORTH WEST

St Helens is DOWN slightly on 22, 025 FROM 25, 881 and NOT now THE highest in the NW.

Liverpool is slightly DOWN too and also well above all of GM on 19, 684

Sefton slightly UP on 13. 850 but also still above all of GM

So Merseyside not GM is still the problem in the North West according to Zoe.

Even Warrington is above all of GM but DOWN slightly on 13, 351

LAKE DISTRICT NORTH DOWN ON 26, 162 FROM 28 866 IS STILL THE HIGHEST IN THE NORTH WEST JUST AHEAD OF ST HELENS AND LANCASTER AND MORECAMBE DOWN ON 18, 416

BUT THE OTHER AREA OF CONCERN (sorry Andyhinch):-

Cheshire East which is really very surprisingly still above Stockport and UP TODAY to only just over its neighbour to the north.

UP to 13, 652 FROM 13 , 059 - over Stockport again.

Very unusual for Cheshire East to be still above all GM boroughs - BUT it still is THOUGH no longer over Chester and Cheshire West which went UP again on 18, 892 FROM 18, 413

SCOTLAND DATA

NB:- LAST SATURDAY THERE WAS A 'RARE' UK DATA PROBLEM AND THE NUMBER HAD A LOT OF CATCH UP FROM THAT SO I INCLUDE THE DATA FROM 2 WEEKS AGO TODAY TOO FOR A BETTER COMPARISON

18 deaths - was 27 last week & 10 two wks ago

3261 cases - was 6116 last week & 4298 cases two wks ago

8.8% positivity - was 9.0% last week & 10.9% two wks ago - THIS SHOWS THE FALL IS REAL EITHER WAY

1005 patients - was 1011 yesterday & 1052 last week & 985 two wks ago. THIS FALL IS CLEARLY REAL

79 ventllated icu - was 79 yesterday & 99 last week 83 two wks ago - DITTO HERE

AND THE HOSPITAL DATA IS MUCH MORE THE KEY METRIC NOW NOT CASE NUMBERS
