The three nations cases total today is 7396.

Last week at this stage it was 6654

A bit of an increase AND the first one in a while as these have been steadily falling.

Not boding well for the England number later.

Last week England added 29, 826 to that 6654 to total 36, 480

Yesterday England added 33, 450 to total 39, 851

I think we may well top 40,000 today for first time in a while. Hopefully not.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DEATHS

THE GOOD NEWS HERE CONTINUES - WITH A CAVEAT

61 with 10 North West - was 73 with 8 NW last week & 133 with 12 NW last week

THIS IS THE LOWEST THURSDAY DEATH TOTAL SINCE 5 AUGUST.

NUMBERS HAVE QUITE CLEARLY BEEN FALLING NOW FOR THREE WEEKS - THOUGH NW DEATHS HAVE PROPORTIONATELY BEEN RISING.

THIS IS BACKED UP BY NW HAVING THE ONLY WEEK TO WEEK RISE IN VENTILATORS OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL DATA.

THE RISE IN CASES HAS ONLY JUST SEEMED TO RESUME IN ENGLAND (UNLEAS YESTERDAY PROVES TO BE A ONE OFF _ WE CAN HOPE).

BUT INEVITABLY - IF THE RISE IS REAL AND CARRIES ON - EVEN WITH IT BEING MOSTLY SCHOOL AGE CASES THERE IS SPREAD BEYOND TO FAMILY AND HOSPITAL NUMBERS SEEM BOUND TO RISE. THE FALL IN ENGLAND HAS ALREADY STALLED IN THE PAST FEW DAYS.
Rolling the Trump cocktail out is probably starting to have an effect on the numbers.
They should drop by 10-20%

Pretty well spot on with my 40 K prediction sadly.

40, 701 cases

122 all settings deaths - 10 out of hospital in England (down from 137 total last week and 14 out of hospital deaths in England last week)

UK cases up 850 on yesterday to 40, 701

Up 4221 on last Thursday's 36, 480

England only numbers are:-

33, 305 - down 145 from 33, 450 yesterday

Up 4269 from 29, 036 last Thursday.

Pillar 1 & 2 tests up by just under 200,000 today so positivity down.

Though 57K FEWER than last Thursday - so week to week positivity well up.

Down in the south, my Surgery have added a recorded message stating they are aware there is a national shortage of tests right now, as they referred to more appointments becoming available soon I imagine this refers to PCR rather than Lateral flow.

I read Delta is infecting with a lower viral load, and wondered how this might go towards explaining the dynamics of the 'wave' we expected that never really came - but never really left either.

It is obviously true we've been so lucky with the weather in the last few months, this week has looked greyer but even so it remains very mild, we had at least one uniformly glorious day and a couple of half days without a cloud in the sky.

Fingers crossed for the next couple of months.

If we do get a reversal I very much doubt it will be a big one - but whatever happens, lets remember what a glorious summer it's been, and cherish those freedoms and our life, and.. at least try to remember that respecting others who don't agree with you is usually the winning strategy for a democratic society?

I also wanted to say 'Thanks' once more for all the support I recieved from various members last eighteen months.

Cases in the Netherlands had been comparatively low in recent weeks, but the last two days have seen a marked upswing and suggest they might be rising again.

A better day in Greater Manchester and in most boroughs.

Though only 3 boroughs today were down week to week - Bolton, Salford and (this is no misprint!) Stockport.

Still 219 cases but 126 DOWN on yesterday and 45 lower than last week AND lower than Manchester too again, which itself is 40 up week to week on 238.

Trafford did much better today too but still had a Pop Score of 127. Well down on yesterday but 50 or so ahead of the rest - even Stockport and Tameside.

Wigan also clocked up 200 cases.

Trafford easily top scored on exactly 300 cases but that is 101 down on yesterday (only Stockport fell more - fairly obviously as most boroughs have nowhere near the numbers TO fall by over 100 day to day).

So Trafford at only its second highest ever. AND just up 75 week to week. The most today. And now trailing Stockport (who were behind 3 days ago) by 108 for the lowest Pop Score in GM across the pandemic.

A bizarre 'race' to be citing given their current respective numbers.

Bolton had the best day - lowest Pop Score, smallest case number (94), and only Stockport fell week to week by more.

Only Bury also was under 100 today - on 96 but well up week to week.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL SUMMARY

Admissions for Tuesday - UP this week from 596 to 658 - these are going up a little week to week now most days

North West on Tuesday was the only region to FALL from 94 to 88 admissions TUE to TUE.

Patients in hospital TODAY - down 47 on WED to sub 5000 on 4962

NE & Yorkshire only region up today - FIFTH successive day patients have risen here. On 1140 now.

Midlands also over 1000 but fell onto 1017.

London falls for the third straight day to go sub 900 forfirst time in weeks on 884.

And North West also down by 24 to go sub 800 to 779.

Only Midlands and Yorkshire have more patients today than last Thursday

BUT the Ventilators are a different story again.

Up 2 day to day after the same yesterday - now on 665 - down just 672 (A FALL OF 7) week to week to week.

Most regions are falling. Except for the North West.

TheNW has been seeing patients fall but ventilated patients go UP for several days now.

HERE ARE THE NW VENTILATED NUMBERS FROM LAST THU TO TODAY:-

90 - 88 - 82 - 78 - 72 - 83 - 92 - 95

UP 23 (not far short of ONE THIRD) Since Monday AFTER FALLING WEEK TO WEEK FOR SEVERAL WEEKS

THIS TREND IS STARTING TO LOOK OF CONCERN AND MAY BE WHY THERE HAS BEEN A HIGHER THAN USUAL NUMBER OF DEATHS IN THE NORTH WEST OUT OF THE LOWER TOTALS.

INDEED 36 DEATHS IN ENGLAND HOSPITALS IN THE PAST 3 DAYS WERE IN THE NORTH WEST - SO IF DEATHS ARE HIGHER THAN THEY WERE AND YET PATIENTS ARE FALLING AND VENTILATOR PATIENT NUMBERS ARE RISING THAT SUGGESTS TO ME A POSSIBLE CHANGE IN THE VULNERABILITY OF THOSE ADMITTED.

ARE WE HAV(NG A PROBLEM IN CARE HOMES IN THE REGION IS THE FIRST OBVIOUS QUESTION TO ASK?

BECAUSE GENERALLY WE ARE SEEING CASES RISE, MOSTLY YOUNG PEOPLE CATCHING IT AND NOT NEEDING HOSPITALISATION AND THEREFORE NUMBERS IN HOSPITAL STABLE OR FALLING.

THIS NW DATA AT THE MOMENT IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE AN ANOMALY
