Boosters haven't been offered to me as a 52yo.

I wonder if he will promise that he will follow his own guidance on mask wearing in the House of Commons.

I expect not.

I got offered one via text message from my GP last week and I'm 51. I was somewhat surprised as I didn't think they'd gotten down to anywhere near my age yet, plus I don't have any known underlying health problems (apart from being a fat bastard!). I clicked on the link and it gave me a choice of 2 venues but neither are particularly close to me, so I stalled for a day or so but when I finally decided to book it regardless all availability had gone. I'll make sure I'm more on the ball next time but as it was only June 8th when I had my second jab it shouldn't be an immediate issue for me and there are surely others in greater need of the booster before me.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DEATHS

NO GOOD NEWS HERE EITHER - DEATHS STILL RISING. WORST NUMBERS IN NORTH WEST AGAIN TOO

89 deaths - with 20 from North West - big percentage here again as a few times recently. Legacy of those rising ventilator numbers in hospital we were seeing over last week. Though these have started to fall in past 24/48 hours.

WAS 77 with 18 NW last week & 64 with 9 NW week before

CLEAR UPWARD TRACK NOW.

Indeed there is now no question of a big week to week rise in the past 7 day total.

Previous weeks recall were falling:- Five Day totals 577 - 526 - 508 - 398 - 380

All looking rosy and though the fall had significantly reduced last week it still fell.

With one day to go now the current total is:- Day by Day

54 - 65 - 59 - 59 - 67 - 69 - Already for just six days a total of 373

The final dayin the week (16 OCT) is already at 68 with another day of reporting so looks all but certain to continue the upward trend into the 70s and give a weekly total probably around 450.

The legacy of weeks of high case numbers is starting to appear. Unless and until cases go down again this will carry on rising into Winter.

THAT is the problem.

Government appear to be taking a wait and see if it fizzles out - possibly gambling on the slow booster roll out and the every kid will have had it soon philosophy to plod on. But the risk of mix into the rest of the family and the already clear signs of this and waning immunity in the first vaccinated IS going to increase cases and deaths because more oder people are catching it.

THIS IS A CRUCIAL MOMENT.

WHAT WE DO NEED URGENTLY IS A GOVERNMENT BRIEFING ON COVID ASAP IF ONLY TO SHOW US THEY HAVE NOT TRIED TO MAKE US THINK COVID HAS GONE AWAY. BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO BEHAVE AS IF IT HAS AND THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB IS TO MAKE SURE THEY KNOW THE TRUTH

I thought Scotland kept masks? Have they worked?

Well all I have to go on are cases, the UK is up at 45-50000 /day. Scotland at roughly 10% population should be around 4-5000 / day but has been flatlining for the past few weeks at around half that 2500 ish. Is it all masks ,probably not but if some of it is then it's worth it.

They also have a duty to govern our country. Taking a precaution such as wearing a mask reduces the chances of a major outbreak in Westminster and means they will be able to perform their duty as our elected representatives.

51 ventilated icu - up 5 on yesterday - was 51 last week


THESE NUMBERS NEED WATCHING FOR WHERE THEY TREND NEXT

COMPARE THE ABOVE TO LAST WEDNESDAY WHEN PATIENTS FELL FROM 80 AND VENTILATORS FELL BY 14 TUE TO WED VERSUS TODAY UP 21 AND 5. BIG CHANGE AND NOT IN THE RIGHT WAY

Cases in the Netherlands have topped 4,000 for the first time since July. A further 53 people were hospitalized, 11 were sent to ICUs, and 10 people died. Hospitals have now started distributing patients across regions to alleviate the burden in certain regions, which is an early indication that the pressure in the system is building.

You have repeatedly been told by the government that it's time to live with covid. That means no invasive restrictions on people's lives or shut downs of the economy.

The NHS is overwhelmed every winter because it is shit. They simply have the gall to demand restrictions of people's lives now because of a nasty precedent set over the last 18 months.

The solution is to sort out the NHS.

If you think bringing in a temporary measure to help stem the increasing case numbers such as having to wear a mask in certain situations constitutes an invasive restriction on people's lives then you truly are the definition of a big girl's blouse. Wearing a mask is fuck all in the grand scheme of things and if such a simple measure is enough to stop the threat of any further lockdowns - which nobody truly wants to see - and enables us to continue doing all the normal things we're currently able to do - then why wouldn't you be in favour of it?

That makes no sense as you are not supposed to get the booster until 6 MONTHS have passed. June is nowhere near that. I am much older than you and had my second one in late April and been told to wait until the start of November.

Looks like this roll out is yet another haphazard mess of a plan.

Or did you book it for after 8 December perhaps?

And my friend near on 30 years older than you had her second one 8 months ago and still waiting.

Who organises these roll outs? More like a Monty Python sketch than a well planned strategy.

I had no idea that this was the case until you and another poster mentioned it. It must've been an administration error for me to get an invite. I'm glad I didn't take it up now
