I wonder if the majority of Mail readers really are unhinged anti-vax loonies or whether there are bots involved. If it’s the former we really do have a big problem in this country with nut jobs. If it’s the latter the management of the Mail must know and allow it to happen which means they are actively encouraging anti-vax conspiracy bollocks for their own ends.

It's a sad state of affairs that the Daily Mail is the most read newspaper in the UK. It's political agendas are so obvious. It's more like a propaganda mouthpiece to the far right.

Just read the headlines from COP....

Firstly, after thinking about this overnight let me make clear I have no problem at all with anyone's opinion on this. None at all. I do not take it personally. I get entirely why the data is not something most now care about and may actively want to 'escape' from as it impacts on the psychology of getting our minds set on the new normal.

I feel that too - though I have other reasons for doing what I am doing here that those few on here who know me understand but I would not share openly on here. It has nothing to do with City. Or Football. Or Covid. But has seen me in need of a distraction and this just became that - I think - whilst the mess going on outside of my control that limits what else I can do with my life rages onward. It arrived 18 months ago when Gelson's Dad was posting the data and was driven off in much the same way. As I was reading his posts I just carried them on and developed them as it was a good time for me to do that psychologically.

I might talk about those reasons when I move on from here and leave you all alone. As by that point Covid will be over in so far as it ever can be and I will be able to get back to my life as it has been before the last two or three years ofwhich Covd is only a part of the reason why that is not as straightforward as it seems.

The only real way forward that seemingly suits everyone would be to keep this thread as is now for open Covid discussions and have another one just for the numbers.

If that is created I will contribute into here if I have something non data related to say on Covid and into the data thread with the less detailed posts as I was starting to do - but that also gives the flexibility for others to post data in there if they want to elaborate on their neck of the woods or to ask for me to post more details on somewhere or something. And for all the rest in here not to ever need to go there.

I have no desire to be at the centre of frustration from anyone in here which is why I will not try to find a balance in here because it will clearly always not suit everyone and lead to posts like the one about the NHS data which I know was sincere but was also misleading. Not the fault of the poster.

The NHS data on Gov UK can be out of date at 4 pm and often only gets updated to that day later that night and over the weekends is two days behind and only updated Mondays. And the regional data compared with one another would require you doing multiple searches for each region under each function like patients and ventilators so not instant or easy. You would only know that if you used it a lot and wanted that data. This is why the eveing news is often not up to date with the NHS numbers.

Moreover yesterday Gov UK was NOT updated at 4 pm at all as I had posted in the pages up to the post saying it had been there since 4 pm. They did not update it until just before the poster posted. Again NOT their fault and I am not blaming them for saying that it was as it is usually true.

Those who follow the numbers (that dwindling band which I see as very happy news not a disappointment btw) understand why I post the summary as I have done it for over a year and explained why before several times,

So the only way that could not create division or more posts asking why I do this or that is to have a data thread that can be avoided ior not by choice. And this thread then for all other Covid things.

If that happens I will post into the data thread and may well if I have something non data related post in here too. But I am not going to try to put numbers in here as it clearly will not work for the majority in here. Which as I say I understand entirely.

Well I for one found your analyses very informative and interesting particularly the breakdown into different regions of the UK, comparisons with different time periods and the figures for GM and NW where I still have connections with family and friends.
Can't really see why anyone should have a problem with this but this is Bluemoon!
Thanks for all the effort and hard work you put into this.
Much appreciated.

IMO, you should create the ”Covid data thread” and post in it, then it’s your baby, so to speak.

One was created earlier today, that we're good with being used

Thank you all. I will post there.

Though may post on other things here too - just NOT any numbers.

I am seriously considering going for my booster tomorow on the bus. Something I have not done since the pandemic started but I think might be a necessary tip toe back into the world.

Will wear a mask but will still be scary.

Trouble is in 18 months the buses have changed and instead of one company new ones are now running the routes. So it feels like 18 years not months.

However the threads are split, the non-data one will end up in arguments.

It allows anti-Vaxxers a platform to spout their shite without the need to back it up with stats. They then will be called out by pro-vaxxers.

Neither will shift their position and people will just get more and more irate.

So?

Thats the whole point isn’t it.

It is a forum.. If somebody who doesn’t want to have the vaccine they might want to discuss or air their views that in your opinion are just spouting shite.. The pro vaxxers can then argue their case , some , the ones that don’t wish death on the above can sometimes change their minds into having it ..
