As I've already said, locally we struggle to see the GP and are pushed into telephone consultations or going to hospital for triage instead, this is exacerbating the problem, this continues despite the 're-opening' of the UK.Not really. It goes beyond that I think. An unvaccinated person has a much higher chance of getting ill and dying than a vaccinated person does, which as you say is their look out.
However, the problem is that there is also a much higher possibility of those unvaccinated people needing hospitalisation, which puts extra pressure on the health service and means that there aren't the resources to deal with serious illnesses other than Covid. That then has serious consequences for other people and is why I believe not being vaccinated (by choice) is extremely selfish.
I hope we follow Austria's example with mandatory vaccination but that is very unlikely.
I'd like to think that in a few years time we'll look back and smile at the handling of Covid19 not least some of the very poor decisions and flip flopping, but I genuinely fear that we'll be in much darker times, not necessarily as a direct result of the new 'plague'.
