My lad was due up from down south with his lady for the weekend to go out on Saturday afternoon for a few round the markets (with us), a romantic meal & the theatre as a prezzie for her afterwards

Theatre cancelled as cast are positive, got him to cancel his meal so he can 'do the double' at a later date and he's staying down south so it stops the discussion that me & Mrs Moon don't fancy a packed pm in town by tram.

Sorry he & girlfriend had to miss out but it's undoubtedly meant there's more chance of Xmas at their's for a few days happening.

Mate of mine cancelled his birthday plans this weekend because he’s more worried about being able to enjoy Christmas Day. Would imagine a few are the same.

You're right mate caught it before any vaccine roll out considered myself fairly fit but 4 weeks in hospital 3 weeks in induced coma ventilated taught me otherwise, lucky to survive thanks to the NHS with no ill affects now. The hard part was parting with 4 pints of plasma, a pint of blood for Manchester Uni and one for Edinburgh.
Glad you’re better mate. It must have been fucking scary.

Serious question, christmas get together for 1 day, approx ages 1 over 85, 5 over 50, & 2 over 20s all fully jabbed up appart from the 2 over 20s with 2 jabs,
Safe for everyone or not? (not taking into account my sister in laws cooking)
Where there is doubt, there is no doubt.

I'm a sample of one and therefore no basis for scientific claims but I'm into day 3 of having Covid. I'm 55 and triple jabbed .... quite clearly it's transmissible, even with vaccines, but so far I've nothing more than a bad head cold and a few aches and pains. In normal times I'd be in work with those symptoms but isolating and missing lots (including a 7-0 win) during the current hysteria. I'm not sure where the country/world goes from here but isolations, lockdowns and the destruction of the hospitality sector for what, from my experience, resembles little more than a cold?
You started well,”no basis for scientific claims” ; I’d have left it at that .

You know what me and mine are tripled jabbed ( well daughter will be the last one on Monday ) we all got it when unjabbed and my view is if we get it again the effects will not be as bad ( frankly for me and the Mrs it was like a few days of flu ) but the thing is we will all not be a potential threat to others.

It is very very early days but I suspect that future research will identify genetic and social reasons why some were more affected than others pre-vaccinces.

The anti-vaxxers stance is becoming harder to maintain - my own middle sister is a rabid anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist and that all comes out of Covid-19. I pointed out to her earlier on the phone that current figs are 8.5bn doses in total world wide -3,6bm fully vaccinated which is over 46% of the worlds population. When I put it to her that if vaccines were not successful and were killing people I get

" thats just numbers - you are believing what they tell you"

I asked who they are and why they would tell me that and the phone was put down on me. Its fucking hard.

“Covid causing unprecedented crisis in the NHS”. “Protect our NHS“ says Johnson.
Or, perhaps, it’s the result of austerity politics, lack of investment in social care, and economic inequalities that drive health inequality? A system that has to be so lean, it frequently operates at close to 100% capacity. And, since Covid appeared in 2019, we’ve got fewer beds, fewer staff and fewer social care availability to allow medically fit patients to leave hospital.

Never forget either that this was mainly overseen by the now apparently wise sage Jeremy Hunt.
