But is south Africa they have seen the results and we are getting the results here now, if ur vaccinated there is very little chance of you becoming severely ill, if I ran a pub or restaurant or a shop in the city or cafe, I'd be in despair now I really would
Yes the results from South Africa are encouraging. But people would rightly argue that it doesn't necessarily translate to this country for a number of reasons. It may do, but we don't know.

I think it is time for a legitmate debate about the future of health care. Despite the nostalgia, the NHS is not "the best health system in the world." None of the deflection tactics, getting people to bang pots and pans etc etc, alters the statistics.I support the NHS but it must be totally modernised and reformed.
The health service has been run for years at it's maximum ,in winter. With no slack any health crisis or pandemic was always going to cause a crisis. We need to increase capacity once this is over one way or another. Starting with a big increase in capacity of social care even community hospitals to prevent bed blocking. It will need funding the debate is how.

But you cant keep doing this every time, you know that.
So we either live with it and just accept that a few will suffer, or we carry on down this road and millions and I mean millions will suffer long term.
I know which road I want

the Lockdowns were to stop the NHS getting over run and that will be the same for any future lockdowns, What do you think happens if the NHS gets over run?

The NHS has been a heap of shit for as long as I can remember.

I know we’re obliged in this country to hail it as the best thing on the planet but it really isn’t.

Fair enough, we all have our opinions.

I'd rather the country shut down for 3 weeks than watch people dying in the streets. I'm not saying that will happen, but a short-term crisis where people requiring oxygen may not get it is a very real possibility ** IF ** this variant affects people badly enough.

Still, if you'd rather be able to nip out for a pie and a pint, you may have a different viewpoint.

Like I said, watch the Omicron case numbers this week. If they aren't big by the end of this week then we'll have nothing to worry about.
