I was disappointed to hear this morning that Hancock thinks every one will have been offered to have both jabs by the start of September.
Two months later than I would have expected given the current ramp up.
I am guessing that there is a temptation now to predict later dates etc. and then be seen to have improved

Sounds promising. As depressing as some of the recent figures have been, there are many more effective ways of tackling this now compared to last Spring, and in conjunction with the vaccine rollout we're on the way to confining this virus to the margins. How long that will take is anybody's guess but I think we'll have relative normality back within 12 months for sure, although in some other countries it will take longer mainly due to being behind us and other nations on vaccinations.

Is their any indication when he might be eligible for the vaccine? Mine is in his 70s and is looking like 2nd week of Feb. Its one of those things where we have to put our faith in the process and hope beyond hope they will be okay.

I'm with you on that. As soon as I can I'm hiking and climbing every mountain these Isles have to offer then start on Europe. Life is far too short to work yourself into the ground. Make a list of all the things you are going to do when the situation allows for it. Just try and find little positives to get you out of this funk you're in or it'll swallow you up pal

He has a date next week thank goodness. I have never lived with my old man and our one consistent has been going to the match together and we do the whole hog every fortnight having a corporate table and he loves the whole day out and it gives him to look forward to. I would never have imagined it would be a year without it. As for the walking i am with you on that - did Kinder Scout recently and loved it and i am going to get fit by walking hills.

We could do with buying the @andyhinch fitness video

My grandads care home had an outbreak nearly 2 weeks ago, they are all locked in their own rooms and still no ones had the jab.

Have they asked for consent yet? The paperwork can take a while to get together with family members having to be contacted in certain cases.

They seem to be deviating a little from the eligibility criteria judging by evidence from family members on here ( can confirm this too).

We might get to hear more about the plan because the BBC news update says that Boris Johnson will be questioned on the rollout by MPs later today.

I get the feeling that the infrastructure is in place but the data that's published each day shows that we are falling behind the numbers we need to reach to get us to 15m first doses by the 15th Feb.

We have vaccinated 2,431,648 people as of the 11th and there are 35 days to the 15th of February so we need to vaccinate 360,000 per day to meet this. We are vaccinating at less than half that at the moment (167k for the latest available data and that included 2nd doses). I think the distribution channel is still under construction, for example, there are pharmacies to come on line. I don't know where the constraint is but I suspect it is batched and verified vaccine supply.

It would be popular no doubt if vaccine delivery went 24/7 but there's no point doing this unless there's supply.

I hope the picture gets clearer today. I think we're all trying to figure out how close we are to getting the vaccine. i would like to know the uptake too. How many who are eligible are taking it up?
