It's not a reason though. They just want to go back and not behave in the rules, as proven by the students out making snowmen and throwing snowballs in a lockdown. We don't need anymore mixing so they should stay where they are and if they try to travel back they should be arrested. They're just whinging because when they're in the family home they have to behave.

Oh, believe me, I fully agree. Would like the authorities to be proactive on this and get universities to push them to remain at home for now. The last thing we need is another spike in a few weeks.

What I’m finding fucking annoying is that the house next to me is student house, the country is in lockdown I can’t go anywhere and the fuckers have all returned in the last week
Not sure what you see as being the problem? They are no doubt paying for a private house, classed as their primary residence, and are bored after being at home for 4/5 weeks and would prefer to be in lockdown in the company of their mates. I’ve said to my own son who is at Uni in Nottingham that when he feels like he wants to go back then I’ll take him, they are all getting shafted enough by paying for fees and housing, at least have a bit of appreciation for what it’s like for them.

My lad hasn't gone back cos no one else in his accommodation has either so has stayed at home, done his assignments and worked in medical records for the NHS. They rightly got a lot of stick initially but not all are as selfish as some others in society. He also has continued to pay for the accommodation without being there

and they can have some appreciation for people who are in lockdown like them and are having to put up with being fucking bored. They just want house parties and mixing and spread it around because they don't think it applies to them. Well it does.

As someone in Stockport, well one of its villages in the borough, I can’t understand why, traffic is bad but I don’t see that much stupid stuff.

People must be secretly mixing.
I probably over emphasise issues with Stockport because I have family there and by chance happen to know Elise Wilson a little - head of the council. Though I doubt very much she reads this thread or would recognise it as me even if she did. And I will certainly not be telling her! She has a tough enough job as it is.

So we will see how things go as day to day numbers can fluctuate and I am only really curious to see if its previous low numbers and Oldham's terrible ones explain why Oldham is now top of the tree in GM and Stockport at the other extreme as if the different levels of infection over the months shown by the Pop Score are a guide to who still has more able to be infected as they might still be susceptible versus somewhere that has less.

It may be that Stockport with the best Pop score (for now anyway!) at minimum 5.3% who have had it (as they tested positive) versus Oldham with the worst at a maximum 7.9% who have had it from its Pop score might be a factor.

If the virus has already got to the easy targets by now then those differences might be why this new strain can get to more in one place than another as it just has more targets left.

In truth those base levels will have to factor up a few times for all those who had it and were never tested so it might be say Oldham has a 30% + level towards immunity and Stockport more like 15% and with the vaccinations adding to the numbers now not easily able to be infected these modest differences might dictate the flow of cases at this point in time.

Its only a theory. A guess more correctly.

students who can't cope with being bored are the pathetic ones. Get in the real world where everyone's suffering and having to put up with this shit.
They have every right to be in their primary residence, they’d still be in the same lockdown as everyone else and just as bored as the rest of us, just in the company of some friends of their own age. Don’t see what the big problem is with that.

Thousands of people are dying that’s why the Government put the country into lockdown, we all know students are a bunch of assholes who just want to piss it up and party why should Tax payers have too play by the rules but Tax Dodging Students think they can do what they like
