Mate, I was going to reply before, until I saw @ayrshire_blue post. I nearly fell off my chair at your comment about returning to work, especially after you’ve mentioned how bad this has hit you. Just concentrate on getting well.

On the oxygen, anywhere between 95 and 100% is fine/expected, but normally between 96 and 98, so you’re all good.
I know, it sounds insane but there’s a reason I mentioned that but perhaps that’s for another thread.

95 is good in that case especially given I’m deep in it atm.

Thanks.

Interesting stats on makeup of hospitalisations

50% are in 50-69 age group
25% 70+
5% 80+

argument goes that whilst older = more risk, as elders are shielding it would actually make more sense to prioritise vaccination of 50-69 group first to relieve pressure on NHS.

effectively, the government is prioritising minimising deaths within 28days of positive test rather than the overall health of the NHS (and the knock on deaths caused by cancelled procedures, lack of people coming forward to be diagnosed etc
You don't mention the ICU demographic. Have you a link for those and your figures above?

So now have to worry about a friend whose apparently broken their nose, if they end up going to hospital they'll almost certainly get Covid and they have a compromised immune system so that will bode well.

Just as I'd managed to stop worrying for a while.
Mate they are taking serious precautions at the hospital's. I am going through a massive Crohn's flare up. My immune system is basically eating my insides. Yesterday I had to go to the MRI for a chest x-ray and pick up a loaf of medication. There are guards at every door entering the hospital who are enforcing mask wearing. There are also guards at each internal door and sanitisation stations everywhere. Also the hospital was dead, there was only me waiting for an X ray.
Saturday morning I had to have a camera up my bun in there. The precautions they are taking are almost military.
You are far safer going to hospital than to Asda.

You get a more accurate reading after a small amount of physical exertion. If you drop into the low 90's from doing a few stair reps then you really need to be thinking of making a call because you can spiral down alarmingly fast from there.
That’s interesting. As mentioned above, the doc did say if I were to walk down the flats stairs it would probably kill me atm (I tried a short balcony up/down walk and I’ve felt better after a half marathon...completely exhausted).
I’m just going to take it real easy now, rest, take lots of fluids & hopefully start eating properly too

I'm in that 50% group but I wouldn't want to be done before more elderly, at risk groups. The last time I saw it the average age of people that had died whilst having Covid it was 82 and a bit.
Those figures are hospitalisations not deaths. Death figures are widely used.

two things:
1. Perhaps those in the 50-69 category are likely to “put up a better fight” and last longer than 28 days and not count as a death.
2. The case here is that the deaths saved are not those 70+ saved by injection but those of any age who can’t get treatment as they have been cancelled.

I don’t understand how we can be getting so many cases/deaths. There is no mass gatherings, everything is shut almost. I don’t believe people are catching covid from walking outside
Cases are down significantly.
C30k reported today. It was c80k a week or so ago.
Deaths lag as it’s not an instant death. You certainly would rather be shot than killed of covid.

yeah, well we'll see, can easily spread off wards. Safest at home.

It’s astonishing how it appears to have jumped from ‘I don’t know anyone who has had it’ to stream of us succumbing to it.
Some clown on my Facebook timeline thought he was being clever last week when he posted “the government tell us that 1 in 50 have the virus at the moment so let’s do a straw poll of my 200 friends to see if it’s true” or something, only to be hit with a number of “I have” or “my wife has” etc. He looked a right dick.

certainly felt like it's started to close in in recent weeks.

Rest. Rest. Rest and more rest.
Look up some breathing exercises to help with restoring your levels.
Apparently, these really helped some of the stricken on the Diamond Princess. Recommended by Asian crew members, I seem to recall.
