As I say I am probably just being overly fussy as I freely admit to being a tad obsessed with the daily numbers after posting them for months now.
Maybe it's simply a matter of the scale of the logistics ? The other 3 nations have small populations to count from, and consequently much smaller numbers to report, whereas England a very much larger population, London alone is nearly the size of the other three nations added together.

Actually compiling the data in England is a far greater task, something shown when you zoom in on the map that shows the 7 day cases in England at postcode level, this level of breakdown to almost street level, isn't available for the other nations.

I certainly don't think anyone is being "lazy", just harder to compile and check the data.

It is I expect simply because Gov UK - the official site for data - is regularly behind. It updates at 4 pm on days it is working (it has been very late twice this week due to different issues) but the England hospital data is often not added until late at night and at weekends might not be at all.

For the other nations it is always at least a day behind and up to 3 days behind at weekend.

As of this morning it is up to date for England but has Thursday data for the other three nations and will likely stay like that until Monday evening now.

The data is easy to access as the other three nations all announce it before 4 pm every day and I post it in here- but Gov UK still always 'updates' at 4 pm to the day before for the three nations not to that day.

Its a small thing. Am I being pedantic? Very possibly. And I do not think there is an agenda behind it. I just think it is laziness.

However, that is why I am concerned. Because it begs the question what else are we happy to have less than up to date information on at a top level in the midst of a pandemic? Especially if on that day you are making a point about being over 12,000 in hospital which must have been pre planned as it was repeated several times. It had not been over 12, 000 then for more than 24 hours in the published data. And it just infers sloppiness that nobody bothered to take a minute to look up the true numbers before making a big deal of this nationally.

I don't think you're pedantic @Healdplace . It's important to have information on an up-to-date and consistent basis or we get the sort of conspiracy theories you'll see on social media.

And you won't be alone at being more obsessed with numbers and stats than you have been for many years !

Scotland data:

12 deaths - was 18 last week

555 cases - was 525 last week

3.0% positivity - was 3.1% last week

639 patients - down 27 on yesterday - was 898 last week

63 ventilator icu - down 1 on yesterday - was 74 last week

Anyone worried that it's gonna shoot up again next week when the schools go back given most parents drop their kids off and thus will be mixing?

Brits 56 and over are now getting jabbed..piers Morgan just got the oxford. We are really rattling through now..under 50s soon enough. We're winning

Cases in Czechia, Poland, Hungary, and Italy all continue to climb.
Yep, Mrs Prague's mother is seriously worried as it's getting out of control over there. Says she has no idea when or even if she'll get the vaccine too.

Scotland vaccination update:

I just hope this vaccine gets rolled out more quickly worldwide so we can be done with this shit virus.

My mate in Manchester LA has just been given a date for mid March 57 years old no conditions apart from an annoying twat at times. ;)

Should be below 50's around the start of April everywhere hopefully.

Vaccinations now open for those aged 56 and above although the next group is 55 and above. Anyone know why? I’m seriously miffed being 55
It depends where you live and how fast they are going. Not a national decision.

I know two people married in the same house and one in their early 50s and the other early 40s. The younger one vaccinated. The older one not. Neither special factors involved. The reason was they are registered with different surgeries moving at different rates dependent on their patient lists. Nothing sinister.

Todays England deaths do NOT fit the recent trend of over 80s deaths falling btw.

Highest numbers here in several weeks. No idea why as yet.

Though Unicorn probably just explained above looking closer why 105 of those 185 are over 80.

As stated, it depends on your area. Salford started on over 50s last Monday and my wife (55) had hers then. Various friends in their early 50s also got done last week. Some areas are doing the over 40s.

Actually - though - no it does not.

70 of those 105 over 80s deaths recorded today are a little worryingly from the last 3 days alone. And 80 of them from the last 5 days.

Compared with 42 and 46 from past 3 and 5 days for the 60 - 79 age range.

So this is a real high in that upper age range.

Although 16 of the 80 plus 105 deaths are from January or earlier versus only 6 in the 60 - 79 age range so that mitigates somewhat.

But still undoubtedly the biggest skew towards the over 80s we have seen lately.
