Well, not really, they should be going up, bearing in mind the number of cases 3 weeks ago. I believe the slight reduction is down to the 2 Rumatoid Arthritis drugs Tocilizumab and Sarilumab that were approved by MHRA for general roll-out on 7th January.England hospital deaths up too
875 - with 109 from NW - much on a par with last week - when it was 842 with 103 NW.
More evidence we are at a plateau here.
This is a modest week to week rise in what is one of the two biggest numbers of the week due to weekend catch up.
And NW still not showing any rise in death numbers percentage wise despite being high in case numbers
Starting to wonder if the current outbreak is more virulent and less deadly and if the fact that the NW seems to have focused on all care home residents being vaccinated has begun suppressing the numbers of deaths here. Though the real impact would not be seen just yet.
Something is working because deaths have stayed consistently at around 10 - 12% of England total even as the % of the cases in the NW escalated when the southern regions fell markedly.
May yet be a rise to come. But so far this looks positive news.
I am sure corridors will make a reappearance in time for spring holidays, if the vacc programme continues it's smooth progressIt won't get any takers with a ,£1500 hotel quarantine bill on return.
