North West to only get 200 K vaccines instead of 300 K per week from next week. BBC News.

Local medics unhappy.

So that less well performing regions can catch up.

What happened to rewarding regions who do what the government ask - as in Merseyside and the testing?

Surely supply should be based on population numbers in groups next on the list not performance related as otherwise why bother trying to do better if you get vaccines taken away for doing so and handed to you if you don't get it right?

Also why are over 70s patients in hospital for other reasons not being vaccinated whilst there? Not even happening in Knowsley it seems where for the past month it has been the most infected borough in the UK so high risk to be hospitalised, Seems an obvious step I presumed was just happening.

if it keeps the whole England on roughly the same trajectory then that's a good thing.

Late again

UK nationals and residents returning from "red list" countries will be placed in quarantine in government-provided accommodation - such as hotels - for 10 days, Boris Johnson has told MPs.

Don’t mind this, we need to be unified as a nation and get rid of it as soon as we can, it makes sense to focus on problem areas to save lives.

It’s not so easy for me to say as it could mean delays to my and the Mrs’s family getting it.

The North West IS the problem area though. Only London had more cases yesterday. By just 819.

The only area still increasing percentage wise.

Whereas Yorkshire - the lowest for cases over the past weeks and with the lowest % of the new variant - has had the most vaccines of anyone.

And London - the worst impacted until a massive fall over the past two weeks - has had the least.

So this is not being done on fairness or urgency of need if that is anything to go by.

973 England hospital deaths - down from the last two Wednesdays both over 1000.

A flicker of light here despite the horrifically high numbers still. Signs of us plateauing.

!38 from the NW though Well up on the higher total numbers from the past two Wednesdays.

First hint that the NW problems are starting to translate into higher deaths.

Just as they take vaccines away. And why I was concerned. As it has been clear that the NW was a problem area at present where cases were not falling quite as much as they are elsewhere. Especially in Greater Manchester,

I hope the likes of Andy Burnham point this out and ask why they do not take the vaccine from Yorkshire where cases keep falling to near record low levels yet have been having the most supplies of any region.

So tragic - we are in danger of becoming desensitized to this. A 1000 families again impacted. Horrible.

Schools not back until 8 March at earliest.

And bearing in mind schools will be the first thing to reopen, nothing else will open before March 8th

Many thanks BP and it is more assuring. I would have preferred a study by a university or AZ or Pfizer and not a government organisation though as we are the only country in the world, to my knowledge, who are going down this road. I just hope that you and they are correct.
