PM to hold Downing Street news conference later

While PMQs has been going on, the government has just confirmed that Boris Johnson will be holding a COVID-19 briefing from Number 10 later today
I assume its to announce quarantine rules.

The first minister says: "We perhaps should have done more at an earlier stage to restrict travel across our borders."

She explains her government has been in discussion for some time with the UK government about border controls.

The first minister turns to the proposal to have quarantine hotels and saying she has just taken part in a four-nation call and has been briefed about what the prime minister will say shortly at Westminster.

Ms Sturgeon says she will not pre-empt Boris Johnson but expresses concern that his proposal does not go far enough.”

should have done it a year ago , talk about shutting the door once the horse has bolted

North West to only get 200 K vaccines instead of 300 K per week from next week. BBC News.

Local medics unhappy.

So that less well performing regions can catch up.

What happened to rewarding regions who do what the government ask - as in Merseyside and the testing?

Surely supply should be based on population numbers in groups next on the list not performance related as otherwise why bother trying to do better if you get vaccines taken away for doing so and handed to you if you don't get it right?

Also why are over 70s patients in hospital for other reasons not being vaccinated whilst there? Not even happening in Knowsley it seems where for the past month it has been the most infected borough in the UK so high risk to be hospitalised, Seems an obvious step I presumed was just happening.

The real problem I have is the 1 week notice - that'll mess up appointments given out.

The other thing is that there is clearly an uneven process, which nearly a month in with the AZ should have been ironed out without huge stepchanges like this one.
