Reported in France that 10% of detected cases are now of the British variant. It had 80,000 cases in one November day and is still recording around 25,000 cases per day. Seems very difficult to drive case numbers down.

For the period Jan 6th - Jan 22 which includes the report date for the highest number of new daily cases.
Yes Marvin and the 22nd January is in the last week as we know. Yesterday’s hospital figures showed we are still very much in the peak of the pandemic, albeit that positive test results might be falling.

Vaccinating NHS staff is starting to have an effect on the number of in-patients catching Covid-19.
(Only the headline available to the general public.)

NHS infection control has been a shambles since the days of Matron controling things with SENs came to an end and it's pretty clear it still is.
That's very interesting on the face of the headline it indicates that having the vaccine stops you being a carrier or stops a percentage anyway.

Need some advice. My NHS track and trace app has gone off saying i need to self isolate for 6 days as ive been in close contact with someone with COVID. I have my son with me i was was supposed to take him home on Saturday. Will he have to stay with me for those 6 days?

No, he doesnt need to self isolate unless you develop symptoms. But someone will have to get him as you are supposed to stay home.

Self-isolate immediately

If you're told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace or the NHS COVID-19 app:

  • self-isolate immediately
  • do not leave your home for any reason – if you need food or medicine, order it online or by phone, or ask friends and family to drop it off at your home
  • do not have visitors in your home, including friends and family – except for essential care
  • try to avoid contact with anyone you live with as much as possible
  • any people you live with and any people in your support bubble do not need to self-isolate if you do not have symptoms

Day 3 in hospital. Still on oxygen. Walking 6ft takes it right out of me and I end up in a huge coughing fit
Seriously mate just stay in bed. I have enough experience of hospitals and being ill to have an informed opinion on this. Your body needs rest to help it recover. Sometimes there is a battle between the brain and the body. Mentally you want to fight it, get up, get dressed and so on. It does not work though. You just have to relax the mind, stay in bed, plenty of fluid and rest.
Take care mate and good luck, we all have our fingers crossed for you. You are going to have to ride this one out, but you need to help yourself.
