How’s everyone who’s had COVID19 doing recently?
Can’t quite recall all the names but aware of @ayrshire_blue & @tolmie's hairdoo - how are you doing?

It’s around 3 weeks this weekend since I had the first symptoms & although I’m on the mend quite considerably now, I’m still chesty (not like that fellas....), unable to consider long walks (certainly nowhere near running fit), but breathless and ‘mind energy’ pretty low.

Do you think if I take precautions I’d be good to head to a supermarket (given it’s three weeks since my first symptoms but not everything being equal...).
Cant keep relying on other’s to bring supplies (my ex essentially).

I’m back in work btw - helped with my focus (its remote working & I ducked out of most meetings - I look a wreck so off cam/mic for the few meetings I attended).
Glad you’re on the mend mate. I came out of isolation yesterday and just have the cough. Been pretty lucky compared to you and it was just like a bout of the flu for me with no breathing issues. Whether I end up with a bit of Long Covid is anybody’s guess but I’d have taken this when I tested positive the other week.

My dad 75 and got cancer had the Pfizer vaccine two weeks ago, tested positive today as did my mum and brother. Clearly two weeks is not long enough to provide immunity.
You usually get symptoms and test positive from around 5 days after infection, so the chances are your dad actually caught it before two weeks.
I could be wrong, but the vaccines dont stop you getting it, they just stop you getting severely ill?
They don't completely stop you getting it but they should reduce your chances significantly once they've completely kicked in.

Regional scoreboard news:

South

East down 693 to 2312

London down 1637 (biggest fall of day) to 3631

South East down 1140 (second most fall) to 2932.

South West down 47 to 1485

All the southern regions falling and only London of them is ahead of the North West now and that by a slowly reducing margin to just 657 today. The lead was over 10,000 around Christmas.

Midlands

East Midlands down 248 to 2241

West Midlands down 170 to 3276

- still second biggest cases other than London and even closer to being caught than NW at the moment. Also posting the biggest death numbers outside of the south and ahead of some southern areas most days. Most on ventilators here too outside London and by quite some margin.

North

North East down 390 to 794

Yorkshire down 411 to 1562

North West down 614 to 2974

The evidence to date is that they reduce your chances of getting any symptoms at all by 60-95%, and almost entirely eliminate your chances of getting a severe case.

That's from clinical trials; most treatments are somewhat less effective in real world setting. But these data are so very good they are near certain to transform the situation.

Glad you’re stepping out of it mate
A bout of flu is never pleasant tbf but not being able to walk due to breathlessness was a real shocker.
Managed a good 30 min walk earlier so things are looking more positive now.
The cold weather doesn’t help...I really felt it when the temps dropped.

Greater Manchester Summary:

Another slight rise in the percentage of the NW cases from 34. 7% to 34.9% but not a concern.

GM fell 205 of the 614 fall by the NW which as you see is pretty much on par with that % number. Around a third.

The population of GM as a percentage of the NW is approximately 39% - so if it levels off around there it is not in trouble and where it ought to be.

It is really only catching up to par as when Merseyside and East Lancashire were driving big numbers before Christmas GM was well ahead of them in the numbers - hence contributing below 25% of the total at one point.

GM today fell to 1038 - still stubbornly refusing to go into 3 figures but the lowest number since Christmas.

Manchester at 219 was the lowest 'high' number in the borough for some weeks.

5 boroughs (easy to predict ) sub 100 and 3 of the other 4 only just above 100.

The only place to actually go up today was Wigan and that by just 4!

So a pretty good day.

Full scoreboard later.

My little hammer is nearly 8 months now. I’m slightly concerned he has had little to no interaction with any other baby’s/toddlers - anyone know if that’s ok for him and his development ?
All he has really had is me and my wife. It’s hard going not having much of the family around to help out.
