The spike protein is a highly complex and folded protein that takes up a 3D structure dependent on environmental conditions and its solvent but if you alter the amino acid sequence you potentially change the 3D structure and hence forcefields that control neutralisation reactions.Total scare story stuff. The Sage member who spread this story needs to be sacked from Sage as his comments go against all scientific method.
There are 7 vaccines in use across the world now; Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford, 1 Russian, 1 Indian and 2 Chinese. All target different parts of the spike protein chains. Unless the virus has totally changed its Spike protein a good proportion of the vaccines will still work and the Oxford vaccine can be retargetted within 3 months (with re-approval).
Who would have an accurate record of that, however, other than the business itself? My fear in Scotland, and its maybe an area where I would criticise Sturgeon's approach, is that the rules are still too open to exploitation. Leaving it up to businesses and employers to decide and asking for their help rather than telling them to shut isn't great. I'd have went one step further than she's gone and announced that if your shop or business was shut in March then it's shut now. Construction etc the same, everything absolutely non essential shut. Trade shops only open for people with trade cards who are called to genuine emergencies - plumbers and electricians mainly.
I still forsee too many businesses staying open to prioritise a quick buck.
Excellent indeed.Excellent.
Well done Nicola and Keith.
Some people like thatSo you want us to have a dictator that brings in a totalitarian regime and lock people up?
As soon as the unions voiced concerns it became political for Johnson and co , political dogma over people’s health .If he closes the schools tonight, it needs to be seriously questioned why they didn’t do it at the weekend and have allowed them to be open today. It’s shutting the door (again) after the horse will have already bolted.
It amazes me how easily people just want to give up all their freedoms, is it fear? Some people like that
Given the flack Johnson got for announcing tier 4 expansion after Parliament rose for Xmas and denying MPs a vote and that he has recalled parliament tomorrow I suspect he may announce measures tonight to be implemented on Wednesday after a vote.So we’re going to find out after her
8pm whether our 7 year old daughter is back in school tomorrow?
I’ve already told her that she might not be but she’ll be absolutely gutted. So will I.
Can’t they do it before so we know rather than have to tell her in the morning.
I know in the scheme of things it’s not the end of the world, but come on, why 8pm??
