astonishing naive.

do you honestly think the British public would put up with that.
we are fucking idiots. free will etc.
True Bill, we have go a lot of idiots who spout “freedoms” whilst abusing front line staff and video outpatient departments in the middle of the night, as part of their conspiracies.

Complete waste of money.

With a virus that has asymptomatic carriers and spreaders, the T&T system is completely pointless!

Let’s say 1 in 50 people have the virus but 1 in 3 of them have no symptoms, that’s 446,667 people walking around not knowing they have the virus. How can a T&T system compete with that? That’s nearly half a million spreaders who wouldn’t even know they needed to get a test.

A T&T system can only really work in small populations where everywhere you can possibly go to is scannable (what good is a scanning system where schools, offices, gyms, other workplaces, supermarkets etc. aren’t places you scan in?), mainly for viruses that are fully symptomatic, or when every single person in the population has regular tests.

Are you suggesting we shouldn't test people, or trace their contacts? We know lots of people with Covid have no symptoms and yet the elderly can experience serious infections. That means its more important to test for it although it might be awkward.

I'm not criticising the furlough and financial schemes but since March last year they have been a month behind with most stuff.
From the get go borders should have been shut and people told not to move from there properties apart from essential.
Australia and other countries are out partying whilst we endure lockdown after lockdown with no exit strategy.

i agree in the main and said we should close our borders last March . we simply won't give up our freedom . i say lock everything but we'd then moan about high tax bills, as would Hindsight Keir.
we can't have an exit strategy till we can see one. with the new strains and the public being twats i think we have some way to go yet.

Yes, I had noted that, I have lived in North Wales and still have friends there. So been watching what happened. My best friend who I have mentioned often given her particular vulnerability had family in Prestatyn and she was due to go to them for Christmas. I urged her not to even though Denbighshire was not doing too bad then. But in the end they decided she should not visit as Manchester was so bad she might infect them!

The areas around the Cheshire/Merseyside borders are getting it badly. But Wrexham has been a problem area for months since they had a big factory outbreak.
It is only 2-3 weeks ago that Gwynedd had the lowest per capita rate in the whole of the UK.

Local factors are playing a big part in Wrexham. e.g. 24 drivers at the Arriva Bus depot went off with Covid at about the same time. As you say, the area has a much higher proportion of people employed in manufacturing, including food processing.

Ironically Wrexham is also one of the location for the production of the Oxford vaccine. There's a plant on the Industrial Estate producing 150K vials a day.

I've not seen it mentioned yet but the high rate in Wrexham might also be partly influenced by the large prison (HMP Berwyn, also located on the Industrial Estate) that opened a couple of years ago.

nobody adehers to its findings .
I think track and trace has been a major cock up but there are a lot of people who ignore the results like you say. I know a couple of guys who I later found out had the Covid at the start of the pandemic. I only found out second hand (even though I was going to games with them and doing community volunteering) before the lockdown.

David Parrott is just 19 years old and he sits in isolation wearing an oxygen mask that help his COVID-ravaged lungs to breathe.

"They are sicker now, sicker than the first wave. Sicker and younger. And when you are sicker you are going to be in hospital for a longer period of time and then you can't really always predict what way things will go. We are seeing some tragic situations."
