Yes, I'm 46 and have only have used the pill for 3 months in my early 20s then had to stop due to my leg swelling and family history of dvt. Never used it again.

Had to inject myself daily with an anti clotting thing for my entire pregnancy age 41 due to high risk. Am currently waiting for a scan on a lump on back of leg that consultant worried was possible clot ( but 3 was on still no appt so yes I guess they can't have been that worried..).

I am pretty scared of having the Oxford despite being so desperate for the vaccine. I was hoping we'd be on moderna in a week or two but now that's not likely as they will save it all for under 30s.

I got called a few days ago to have it! But had a bad cough so they said to wait til better then ring them. I just don't know what to do. My leg still hurts, my breathing has gone poor the last week and a resting heart rate is 110 instead of 80 to 90. So already worried that lump was a clot that's on it's way to my lungs! Had a covid test 2 days back so I know it's not that.

Nervous. Don't know what to do.

So i talked to my GP on thur and he just talked over me patronisingly and said "it'll be fine / i had it / no one can choose what they have" kind of speech.

I rang the booking line back up on Friday to book (the number that had rung me the week before) and the lady said that there had been a mistake the week before when i was rung by them and that they should not have been ringing the under 50s yet (she said a section of people got the invite that shouldn't have had) (I'm 46, my sister 48).

I almost cried, my sister got given it, i had to refuse due to being ill but the man had assured me i'd still get it the next week.

So she relented, and told me if i didn't take the slot she was giving me for sunday that i would have to wait til May as ***the under 50s are not getting it until May, and, the Pfizer is being saved for the under 30s and 2nd doses, and the Moderna is being saved too, so even if you wait it will still be the Astra Zenica, so i recommend you take Sunday***".

So despite my fears of risks, i did.

Only to find 48 hours later i could have easily booked the Moderna at the stadium like others on here!

Pretty gutted tbh.

I'm glad to have had a vaccine, i am, but with my risks i just feel i was lied to to get me to take up the AZ. When i went on Sunday there was no queue, i was in and out in 10 min. It's clear no one was turning up for the AZ. When my sister had hers only a week earlier it took an hour.

(57 hours on still got a blinding headache and bad arm pain, with hot flushes) (hoping that all goes off soon)(My lips/mouth went partly numb a few hours after i had it, anyone else had that with the AZ first dose? Went off by the next morning)

Looks like lockdown 4 is in the offing, according to Johnson anyway.
The reduction in hospitalisations, deaths and infections is all down to the lockdown and nothing to do with vaccines, he says. He also says that, as a result of opening up, those things will all go up and we’ve got to accept that is true. ”At the moment” he doesn’t see anything interfering with his roadmap.
Worryingly, he seems to be moving away from the vaccines will save us all narrative (surely the point of vaccines is to make Covid a manageable pathogen, not see its elimination?), with the only thing now left to save us being restrictions in some form or another for the foreseeable future. New variant incoming any day now......

Honestly, you sound like AZ's head of PR. Are you?

You do well know that regulators of new vaccines are aware that it's about efficacy of a new product and at the same time about safety,
for the reason that healthy women and men are given an artificial product although they might never get in touch with that virus.
I think this philosophy is not fully understood.

The CVST risk profile for men and older women is by far in favour of the vaccine, for younger women it is clearly not.

We have a workaround for CVST because we have different vaccines with different risk profiles.
IMO it would be irresponsible to ignore those scientific facts.
Nope I just understand risk.

there is no distancing in pub gardens. It’s farcical.

Have to admit to this part.
pub I was at yesterday was mayhem outside, no rule of 6 or any distancing - everyone rammed everywhere, moving to different tables. It was chaos.

Quite sobering to hear Gordon Brown talking about the need to vaccinate world wide.

It's so easy to look at our vaccination success and how the numbers have dropped due to the lockdown, add in the lifting of some restrictions and the light nights things look to be quite rosey in the garden.

Then you realise that this could all be in vain if other countries can't do the same and the virus continues to mutate and in the worst case to a variation that is resilient against the current vaccines.

At 200k deaths in Russia they're still a lot better than us per capita.
At the 'some say' figure of 400k they're about 20% worse than us per capita.
In world terms we are now being overtaken by smaller East European countries AND now Italy.
Other major countries around the world still have some way to go before they catch up with the UK.
So it isn't really 'a lot worse elsewhere' just yet.
I tend to look at the UK and think how much better we could and should have been i.e. one of the best in the world.
Why's that then? I see:
High UK population density, UK obesity, general Vit D deficiency (especially in the Ethnic populations), people thinking holidays are more important then protecting the vulnerable.
Oh and far too many Covidiots.
Yeah the pandemic plan was garbage and we didn't have sufficient testing capability to detect the major import of cases from skiers returning from the alps during February half term.

The legislation only makes a “gathering of more than 6” “outdoors” illegal. There’s no requirement to distance. Only the guidance says to distance.

I get it. I can’t see how pubs can make any money at all if they are only open to households. It’s just the inconsistency and the fact it is glossed over and government makes out that it isn’t happening when keeping draconian measures over others who might wish to carry out their own social mixing in non-hospitality settings but can’t because it’s against the rules. (For example and this i don’t care when anyone says this is the case, two households of more than 1 person choosing to “bubble” with each other and mix indoors is safer than mixing with 5 others in pub gardens then another 5 the next day and so on...).

Neither do I.

Mate, I'm in the scientific camp. Sadly I'm not good enough to be their spokesman.

Jab pause for AZ or J&J is nothing else than a political reaction in order to avoid any claims they'd have ignored a safety problem.
We will see a very quick check and updated FDA and EMA recommendations that fit the national vaccination strategies.
Clearly not statistics because your perception of risk (like EMA and CDC) is absolutely non-existent.
Perhaps being killed by a cow is a high risk activity in Germany. The chance in the UK in 2019 was 1/942,000. More likely than dying from having the AZ vaccine (1/1,000,000).

That’s correct but bollocks in the scenario I refer to.

6 people sat next to each other outside will still spread the virus. Hence distancing.

there is no distancing in pub gardens. It’s farcical.

if people can mix with 5 others at different times of the day/week/month potentially mixing with hundreds, then the rest of us should be permitted to mix with a limited number of people indoors assessing our own risk.

the public are going to wake up to this dictatorship when it is too late and the damage has already been done
the fact remains it is much much less tranmissable outdoors. Thats the reason.
