Greater Manchester Cases

131 cases today - down 14 on yesterday. Pretty much right at 50% from the 28 NW drop.

Also down 13 from 144 last Saturday. Which is even better as NW regionally was up by 12.

The city of Liverpool continues to do phenomenally well if you want to compare. They had just 3 cases today - down from 6 and their Pop score rose by just 1 over the past three days combined. It was rising by 100 or more daily at the peak of the wave and cases were up to around 500 a day then.

Bolton may be getting impacted by the Chorley outbreak perhaps that Zoe detected?

Bolton - even by its standards recently - had a terrible day topping the tree easily on 32 - up three on the day and 11 week to week. Far ahead of the other boroughs.

Manchester in contrast had a very good day and fell by 18 to its lowest numbers in 8 months - just 19 - which is down 4 from last week.

Trafford up again today into third on 16 - shockingly close to the big city and up up 1 in day and wk to wk. Trafford rose easily into the 7000 club at 7004 and lost more overall Pop score points to Stockport.

Wigan on 16 too is up 9 on the day and wk to wk will have dented its pop score.

Rochdale up 4 on 14 - which is down 3week to week.

Salford falls by 2 to 12 which is up 4 from last wk.

Stockport - up by 2 to 11 which is down by 6 week to week. This was good enough to cut the deficit to Trafford again for overall Pop Score to 155.

So there are 3 boroughs today in single figires:

Oldham down 7 in the day to 5 is a big fall of 12 on last week.

Tameside down 3 on the day to just 4 which is down 5 from last week.

And so - as usual - top is:-

Bury down 3 to just 2 - which is 8 down from last week

Weekly total cases:-

Bury's 37 is the lowest GM weekly total since July last year.

Bolton's woes are complete as Manchester does NOT have the highest weekly score in GM for first time since late last Summer when Bolton also was a problem then.

Bury 37, Tameside 60, Stockport 60, Rochdale 73, Wigan 75, Oldham 78, Trafford 108, Salford 113, Manchester 190, Bolton 192,

I think there’s more people dying from a stubbed toe or standing on Lego than covid right now.
Devi Sridhar media whore saying what’s happening in India is on its way here despite 50% vacination.
there needs to be a shift from the doom merchants to the practical from now on. Lots have resisted it but the time has now come.

If nobody is coming in from there it shouldn't be coming here. Hopefully that is watertight, as it should be with all countries who have spikes like this

But even if it does. We are vaccinated. They aren’t yet. 10% versus 50%.

GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Bolton 66 / 48 / UP 18 Testing positive 9.1%

Trafford 46 / 32 / UP 14 Testing positive 7.0 %

Salford 44 / 33 / UP 11 Testing positive 9.0%

Manchester 34 / 49 / DOWN 15 Testing positive 9.6%

Oldham 33 / 39 DOWN 6 Testing positive 9.8%

Rochdale 33 / 36 / DOWN 3 Testing positive 9.6%

Tameside 27 / 33 DOWN 6 Testing positive 8.1%

Wigan 22 / 25 / DOWN 3 Testing positive 8.9%

Bury 20 / 30 / DOWN 10 Testing positive 9.0%

Stockport 20 / 31 / DOWN 11 Testing positive 7.2%

Bolton pulling ominously clear at the top with Trafford still not out of the unexpected sticky patch but Stockport regains top spot and they and Bury are as low as any GM borough has been for 9 months.

She absolutely does not say that, that's utter bullshit. Unless by 'here' you mean Nepal, Bangladesh or Pakistan?

Infact her words are "I'm EXTREMELY (and she emphasises the word extremely) confident for the UK and some other richer countries", but then sensibly cautions that variants could still be an issue if uncontrolled spread is allowed to take place elsewhere. Common sense, no?

The time has come indeed, to perhaps listen to people like Devi Sridhar who's been pretty much spot on throughout the pandemic, or at least stop trying to discredit them when it's not warranted.

Here is a link to the short video, if you wish.

Spot on with that. I've always thought she talked sense.

Been at my in-laws today in Yorkshire. We sat in the garden in spitting rain, whilst they brought some food out. Two of us are celebrating 70th and 40th birthdays and it is hard staying apart - they've had two doses, but we haven't had any. It's rubbish when the weather is so poor, but we've gone through 14 months of crap and a few more isn't too much of a hardship. In a few months we can all book a meal together, laugh, hug and be happy.

So did the IPL players know of the new policy before the other Aussie citizens in India, is that what you're implying? That makes it even worse.

I doubt it. I think they (Aussies) have history of locking down hard so I think the players were just being proactive.

The scenes from India are the worst I’ve seen in this pandemic, can’t watch without feeling dreadful. You also know the figures are way off what they really are, truly truly awful, thoughts to all
It's heartbreaking to see..am I right in thinking it'll get much worse. Truly awful

it’s truly awful. I spoke to my mate last night whose elderly parents were stuck in India for months during the first wave here, and they had barely any cases over there at the time In their small village. They only come back because his mum was missing Corrie, and his dad missing sky sports! Now, the village is apparently very bad.

Very similar to me as the scenes we all saw in Italy before it really started over here, absolutely heartbreaking, However, India looks like It’s getting far worse

Indeed it is. All aided and abetted by the Dictator Modi. What he has done to that country IS truly awful
