North West cases top 2000 at 2112 - double last week. Which puts Bolton's numbers in good light.

London next nearest also rising fast but at 994 a full 1118 behind.

23 in people aged 65+
160 in people aged 45-64

351 in people aged 25-44

Amazing how fast this is growing despite vaccination levels and restrictions still in place.
Its mutated to somethimg more efficient. And its that process which is where the problem lies. This will burn out but its a race to get new vaccines before we get more escape mutations.

I think being realistic most restrictions are out of the window. If anyone walks around Manchester city centre and honestly believes people are paying any attention to the restrictions then they are naïve. I don’t mean this flippantly but it is just being realistic.

Personally, although I could live with a delay of Jun 21st, I don’t think it will make any difference at all as observance of the rules has mostly finished and so any big explosion of cases post-release is happening now. Which is why I think a delay of Jun 21st will just be political window dressing rather than make any dent in spread of cases as it’s pretty much a free for all already. I appreciate that those that live outside of the city centre may be surrounded by different demographics and so may view things differently.

Not really is it. Unvaccinated kids going to school being tested twice a week, it's bound to jump up. I've said it before and I'll say it again looking at cases is pointless, look at the hospitalisations and deaths instead. Cases can go up to 1,000,000 a day and still won't matter as the hositalisation will still be very low

This week's in comparison to last (Scotland)

119 admissions in total (+40!!)

85+: 10 (+5 on last week)
75-84: 7 (-2 on last week)
65-74: 8 (+2 on last week)

45-64: 26 (+4)
25-44: 48 (+18!!)

Under 25s: 20 (+15!!!)

Also worthy of note that 9 of those under the age of 20 who were admitted to Scottish hospitals with Covid during the last week are aged just 0-4.

This week's hospital admissions (Scotland) compared to last.

Total number of admissions:

143 (+24 on last week, +64 on two weeks ago)

Ages of admissions

85+: 5 (-5)
75-84: 6 (-1)
65-74: 9 (+1)

45-64: 37 (+11)
25-44: 66 (+18)

Under 25's: 20 (no change)

7 of those admitted to hospital with a positive Covid test during the last week were aged 0-4.

Greater Manchester tops 1000 cass for first time in a good while. At 1062.

That is up 112 on yesterday.

The NW rise on yesterday is 272 - so the NW increase is a little below expectations meaning it is not doung as badly as other parts of the region.

Week to week the NW rise is 954 and GM is up 415 - which is about the same below par expectation as day to day.

When Bolton was at its peak a month ago GM (largely because of Bolton) was up to 70% of the NW total.

At 43% wk to wk and 41% day to day I would say that GM is no longer the major driver of the NW numbers.

It is relatively down whilst elsewhere is up because more and more places have joined the growth.

But it would be utterly unreasonable on these numbers to single out GM and impose restrictions there.

So I think you can reject that rumour. There is no way Andy Burnham could look at these numbers and support that.

In any case the way it is headed London will be needing them also soon if so.

Even the North East is over 300 today - very high for here - it was under 100 for weeks on end up to 8 days ago.

Cases are escalating everywhere now. This is no longer localised so lockdowns are too late imo.

Similar rises - not quite exponential growth?

I could understand if they want to delay huge venues being open at full capacity right away, though.

I just hope my wedding with less than 100 guests can go ahead next month - but losing hope every day.

I suppose it depends how much difference things like nightclubs, indoor gigs, big weddings etc make. Much as people arent taking much notice of other restrictions, there are still things its impossible to do.
