So todays UK deaths with out of hospital England to add are 18 - though the 2 from 2020 might get deducted.

Last week it was 12 which became 13 on all settings.

18 on 3 June is the highest since 20 on 11 May.

Three nations cases today are 1187 - last week it was 798

not just ASDA though,all the other supermarkets have had door staff on and now its stopped,,this mask business is very hard for them to police, i dont think there is any exemption proof other than you and your doctor and they or the police are not entitled to see that evidence they have no right to demand it,,people taking the piss now and jumping on the exemption band wagon

Has anyone lost their licence? I’ve not heard of a single place and very much doubt they will, not enough people to police it and all they gave to do is say we asked and they said they were exempt.

The exemption certificate is a self certifying download of the web free for anyone to print off. Doctors won’t issue them.

What do you guys think about this was I in the wrong or what?

I was shopping at ASDA with a client (I am a Support Worker). Whilst shopping there were a number of guys not wearing masks and I remarked on it to an ASDA member of staff and we were both frustrated- I went to ask the guy (Young fit man but could have had breathing problems I suppose) to wear a mask and he tells me to fuck off.

So I continue shopping and we get to the checkout and the first thing the staff do is have a go at my client for being too close to the checkout - I asked what about the other shoppers not wearing masks, then the woman in the next checkout called security, they come over and I said the same thing. Then another came over and by the end of it I am surrounded by 5 of their staff telling me I am being aggressive and that I am barred and to leave my shopping there and leave the store (I had paid already so I told them and then started leaving with my shopping. Then the store manager comes down and says right you out your never coming here again and we're phoning the police)

Is the moral of the story that it isnt worth it. Or right to take a stand.

btw being aggressive was not shouting or swearing - It was me being annoyed as I counted out the 5 security staff to them, all because my client stepped less than 2 mtrs towards the checkout which is surely ridiculous!

Banned from Asda stores twice in just a few months in remarkably similar circumstances! Perhaps Aldi may be better for your blood pressure?!

So, if I am reading this thread correctly, with some restrictions lifted as vaccine uptake increased, there was a concomitant increase in cases, but a minuscule (almost single digit?) number of deaths???

And for this, the UK Govt is restricting trade and industry, let alone travel, during the peak period of economic activity?

How many people die every day from other things that are simply considered “acceptable”?

I’m OBVIOUSLY not promoting the death of anyone, but grinding the country to a halt over literally two handfuls SEEMS a tad reactionary to me.

No vaccine is 100%, so in a population of 60,000,000 people, what number are you aiming for?

The whole point of shutdowns was to stop spreading death. The whole point of vaccines was to avoid contracting a potentially deadly virus and spreading it.

Methinks the BIGGER ISSUE here is the mistake BoJo may have made in not allowing all available vaccines to be used, and then advocating and promoting the first jab to the detriment of the second one…which now appears to take 2-3 MONTHS to get, not 2-3 WEEKS!

In that time and space, you’ve all been fucked out of your summer, and for what?

PLEASE don’t come back with “even the loss of one life is too many” because this whole process is not designed to save every life! It’s to stop a PANDEMIC and reduce it to manageable levels that the NHS can cope while the vaccination program stifles any future spread…….or at least it was until the goal posts started continually changing!(“Save the NHS” anyone?)

One last question: If kids aren’t being vaccinated, what’s going to happen to schools in Aug/Sept?

Sky news reporting 10 uk deaths ?

The England hospital number often gets reduced in the all settings number.

Today, as I noted, two were from last year and these nearly always get taken off the number. And it is also not infrequently true that there is double counting of deaths on Gov UK versus PhE.

The 16 deaths reported by England hospitals likely were reduced to 14 by the two from last year and there must hve been others eliminated for some reason today. Double counting. No test within 28 days. Etc.

Reducing by 8 out of 18 is quite a lot today.

But it is good news either way. It mean that there was probably NO cases out of hospital to add either.

Madness that we are not removing restrictions. Even a few of the staunch lockdown supporters on here said if deaths were still low come the 21st restrictions should be lifted. Yes cases are going up slowly and so are people in hospitals, but in the scheme of things the numbers are miniscule.

This is the lowest weekly number in the two nations combined since the pandemic took off last year.

There were 41 other deaths which mentioned Covid but were discounted as not being the primary cause.

In both England and Wales the death rate that week was below the average of the last 5 years.

Not having more excess deaths per capita than anyone else except for the US? Not putting India on the red list because Johnson wanted the glory of a visit to India which has put opening up in doubt?

Europe is now vaxxing at a faster rate than the UK, have kept their economies more open and will likely relax travel restrictions faster than the UK.

Our vaccine rollout has been excellent, but kind of wasted if we are still behind everyone else.
