Got a bit of a moral dilemma tonight.... i work as a psychotherapist and got an email tonight from the BACP - the regulator saying I can jump the queue and get a vaccine because I work with lots of vulnerable people. Will sleep on it... but not sure I want to jump the queue - I have no underlying health concerns so my instinct is to wait my turn... Any views?

I'd take it, if only for the security for the vulnerable people you work with.

If you catch it, you may not be badly affected, but before you know it you could have given it to someone who might die, maybe more than one ?

You should feel proud.

Do you have a feeling for when the over 50s will be vaccinated? A few politicians have suggested that Pfizer supply maybe resticted for a fortnight. Are you hearing that or is it full steam ahead?

No i have no official info, but the health centre just keeps booking in more and more appointments and nobody seems to be saying slow down.

In fact it seems to be the opposite.

My personal opinion and probably completely different to most of the comments I've seen on here is that the problem heading our way is with the staff and volunteers and not the supply of the vaccine.

With that in mind, anyone on here reading this should try and volunteer in the next few weeks if they can, as when the country opens up I believe the initial enthusiasm will have waned and it will need a boost.

You're a good person but you're overthinking it mate. If they're asking you it's because they think it's the right thing to do given you work around vulnerable people. And it sounds like it is. Take it. Hundreds of thousands are getting it every day. If you're jumping the queue, the next person is waiting a few minutes extra at most to get an appointment. No guilt on your conscious at all!

by not accepting, you are exposing these vulnerable people to a greater chance of the virus from your good self.

Get it done, it is not q jumping, it is common sense.

I had exactly the same feelings a few weeks ago. I work with vulnerable children at school and I'm a Foster carer. I have no underlying health condition and I'm reasonably fit. I slept on it for a night and then decided to have the vaccine. As I look after children in my own home and I have a Foster child with a disability, I decided it was the right thing to do. Its really difficult but you have to put things in perspective and make your choices with what's right for you and your circumstances!

As per my previous posts, I have tried to inform about the vaccine process as I'm a volunteer and I have close family members who are helping to arrange the appointments and also volunteer themselves.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the system is picking up key words like carer, asthma and seizures when choosing who is invited for the jab.

Its moving so fast the staff don't have the time to examine every case so they currently would rather everyone just accept the invite.

The staff are not overly worried because its moving so fast, everyone who wants one is going to be weeks ahead of the original projections.

As an example our local centre has been stretched to vaccinate 1200 a day, but this Friday we are now booking in 1500.

Most people there are volunteers and that includes the NHS staff who don't have to do it if they don't want.

I must admit its something that making me proud to be British.

All ethnic communities are involved and last weeks the local Mosque sent enough food to feed everyone for a week.

I said on here a few weeks ago after taking a Family member for her jab. All the staff there were so positive with everyone and even the local butty shop had been round dropping bacon butties off. It was great to see an end to all the negativity the past year has brought to everyone.
