I went to ASDA and people are walking in frequently without masks and they ASDA dont say anything to them, nothing. Which is contrary to what they advertise :

-----------

Face coverings

Customers must wear face coverings while in store, unless you are exempt.
Customers can enter Asda stores without a face covering if they have a medical condition or invisible disability that prevents them from wearing a covering.
-----------

So I am wearing my mask and I ask at the checkout why ASDA are not asking people for health exemptions? And thats it... First a security guard, then another, then the sub manager then head of security then the store manager come down (And by this time I am asking why they are going ott, no swearing and no shouting), the store manager bans me from all ASDA stores and I am escorted off the premises.

I dont give a crap about ASDA and their Walmart ways but what the actual fuck!
Don't normally go in Asda but went in the Chadderton one last week for a couple of bits, a good 90% of staff weren't even wearing one...after I moaned at a few decided to get round & out rather than argue the toss. Back to Lidl crack of dawn shop & an occasional Tesco run late on for me from now on.

You know that is utter bollocks.
How many licenced venues have ignored the law since the last lock down to allow weddings to take place?
None.
So you saying when a wedding of over 200 takes place they will police it, behave no one will, just like the rest of this yes all scare tactics, I mean sit down no mask stand up put mask on, it’s a fucking joke.

The stadium is rammed. So what have they done right that the rest of the world haven't?

at the moment they don't have variants like we do, we can see how quickly it can change - in next few weeks they may have outbreak of delta variant whilst we end all restrictions. that's just how it is.

North West had a good day today. GM too - though pretty much back on par with rest of NW.

Trafford up to its highest cases in ages is notable (98 there today - it was 18 two weeks ago today).

Manchester also really needs help to up that terrible low vaccination rate which the government keep saying they will not do. Up again today and more than double everywhere else now.

When that happened to Bolton they sent in the vaccine cavalry fast.

Salford and Wigan both over Bolton again but both falling.

Stockport down well on the day and week to week again.

Oldham best scorer and sub 50 for first time in over a week.

Total cases just 64 up week to week at 1014, Lowest weekly rise in some time in GM,

Hopefully not a one off and like Bolton stabilised quite quickly the same thing has started to occur in the rest of GM too

In Tenerife last year I sat at a table about ten feet from the bar with no mask on. To go to the bar and buy a drink I had to put a mask on. It's lunacy. Even better their governments enforced mask wearing outside in 30+ degree heat. This was in spite of everywhere being like a ghost town due to hardly any tourists. Remember Witty and all the other experts saying masks made very little difference? That was when the pandemic was at its peak.

I've been double jabbed and I'm not a covid denier but anyone who questions some of these measures gets jumped on by some on here

Depends how much risk they want to take, venue will be licenced, breaking the rules the 1st thing that goes is the booze licence.

Why not? Does the virus avoid Hungary or have they locked down their borders harder?

If I go to the Asda in Hyde or the Morrisons and Sainsbury's in Denton it's very unusual to see anyone without a mask on?

They are breaking the government's own law if they challenge people not wearing a mask if they say they are exempt. It is quite clear on the Gov UK site. In spite of videos showing staff in supermarkets doing so and police ( Who should really know the law better) they are not allowed to. Nobody has to produce proof of the reason they can't wear a mask, nor should they be harassed to do so. Just saying I'm exempt is enough

not just the government , in the rankings we have one of the toughest lockdowns and yet have one of the worst death counts.

May be we need some new voices and ideas, not just in government, but on sage.
We are quite a way down the list for number of cases per 1m of the population. We are all the way down in 50th. I think that’s very good, it shows (despite multiple border mistakes the govt have made) that our lockdowns - plus our compliance with mask wearing/hand washing/social distancing/isolating - has worked well.

However, for deaths per 1m of the population we are up in 19th place in the world. The correlation (or lack of it) between cases+deaths per 1m shows that it’s the poor health of our nation that’s the problem with our death count. It’s not really what the govt or SAGE have or haven’t done.

We are a country of overfat lazy unfit and ill buggers. The British Heart Foundation estimate that over 20 million adults live a sedentary lifestyle in Britain. TWENTY MILLION plus who just laze about doing sod all exercise in their lives. And when things like this come around, that’s when our poor health really becomes an issue (it’s already the major issue for why the NHS is in a mess in normal times).

I would imagine, if were talking weddings, the risk will very much depend on the venue. If its in a big hotel, where 3 more weddings are booked that week, they will not want to be linked to a Covid outbreak and risk being shut down. If its your uncles boozer, in a private upstairs function room, with family and mates, you might get away with it.
