Got a bit of a moral dilemma tonight.... i work as a psychotherapist and got an email tonight from the BACP - the regulator saying I can jump the queue and get a vaccine because I work with lots of vulnerable people. Will sleep on it... but not sure I want to jump the queue - I have no underlying health concerns so my instinct is to wait my turn... Any views?

If you have been offered the vaccine ,you are not jumping any queue , its your turn so accept the offer.
The virus doesnt have morals. Make yourself and others safer.

I've tried to catch all the pages of this thread but just can't keep up at the moment as busy (I coveted busy).

Current state looking like cases are dropping, deaths dropping (not by a great deal but heading in the right direction) and we need to hang on a few more weeks for data from the vaccines and mutations?

I had a coughing fit earlier this afternoon (I've been coughing daily since catching it) but this got me a bit worried as I couldn't 'finish off the cough' and started getting faint. Immediately thought I had some kind of clot in my lungs (not quite sure how these things present themselves).

Went for another long walk this evening....tires me out, but at least I sleep well. Heart still races like others have mentioned on here, but other than that so much better.
I'd probably like to see about donating plasma....only reason I haven't yet is because I consider myself nowhere near fully fixed.

Mate's been having a bit of 'beef' with his German colleague so he sent him this:

Yep deny it now and you’re just filling someone else’s slot further down the line.
It’s not for us mere mortals do decide whether the organisation of the roll out by the powers that be is correct.
It’s logistically impossible to roll out the vaccine across the whole country evenly and in “order” (the correct order is up for debate).

The roll out worldwide couldn’t be more uneven. Should we be vaccinating healthy under 50s here rather than free up vaccines for 3rd world countries? Not our decision to decide the whole adult population needs to be vaccinated.

As per my previous posts, I have tried to inform about the vaccine process as I'm a volunteer and I have close family members who are helping to arrange the appointments and also volunteer themselves.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the system is picking up key words like carer, asthma and seizures when choosing who is invited for the jab.

Its moving so fast the staff don't have the time to examine every case so they currently would rather everyone just accept the invite.

The staff are not overly worried because its moving so fast, everyone who wants one is going to be weeks ahead of the original projections.

As an example our local centre has been stretched to vaccinate 1200 a day, but this Friday we are now booking in 1500.

Most people there are volunteers and that includes the NHS staff who don't have to do it if they don't want.

I must admit its something that making me proud to be British.

All ethnic communities are involved and last weeks the local Mosque sent enough food to feed everyone for a week.

If you are meeting people you are helping face to face then I would take the vaccine. That wouldn’t be jumping the queue because it is a safety measure to reduce the risk of transmission. If your meetings are by zoom, web-ex etc then that’s a different situation.

Would you not be protecting a vulnerable community by getting vaccinated? For example, if you work with the public you could unwittingly pick up the infection from a client and pass it on without knowing especially if you are healthy,a nd the chance of that would decline with a vaccine.

My Mum and Dad put off many health appointments because they were wary of picking up an infection so I think your public would like you to be vaccinated. it's reassuring.

You should feel proud.

Do you have a feeling for when the over 50s will be vaccinated? A few politicians have suggested that Pfizer supply maybe resticted for a fortnight. Are you hearing that or is it full steam ahead?

I think it will help the pandemic as a whole if a relatively few amount of healthy young people have it anyway.

Internal Whitehall plans :


further education could be back in mid-April, and non-essential shops will reopen at the same time.

Then, in late April, hospitality venues, hotels, leisure facilities and some sporting venues will open their doors.

Entertainment venues and sporting facilities would follow in early May.

Just in time for the end of season then? I saw something a couple of days ago suggesting Wembley would trial League Cup Final for a limited number of fans.
