Scotland data:

4 deaths - was 1 last week

1317 cases - was 735 last week (this was lower by 150/200 decause of data errors)

4.6% positovity - was 2.8% last week

140 patients - up 7 on yesterday - was 124 last week

12 ventilated - down 3 on yesterday - was 14 last week


Data is looking pretty similar here to England. Have to see where this goes in coming days.

Hospital numbers not really shooting up though. So that is better news. Though it could yet tip either way.

And deaths here starting to show the trend in the NW too.

The point is it was 12 from 38 total deaths or whatever it was. So almost a 3rd of all delta variant deaths were double jabbed.

Unfortunately Delta is starting to show its teeth even here now in early signs too

0 deaths - was 0 last week

179 cases - was 109 last week - biggest numbers in some time

7.4% positivity - was 4% last week - this is starting to head the wrong way too like rest of UK

3 care home outbreaks - up 1 on day - was 2 last week

847 weekly cases total - was 765 yesterday & 604 last week

16 patients - was 16 yeterday & 19 last week

0 ventilated - was 0 yesterday & last week

First signs here we may have the same pattern developing as rest of UK

The new care home outbreak is a concern as over 80s testing postive starting to go up as a result too.

To all those supporting the don't have a jab and lose your job coz civil liberties THIS will be the consequence of that liberty UK wide if agreed

That either our stats or India’s stats are wrong, which was my point.

Well I would assume they’re not comparable as the percentages vaccinated vary widely between the countries. Doesn’t mean either have to be wrong.

Northern Ireland ages testing postitive in the 847 weekly cases.

0 - 19 (282) 33.3%

20 - 39 (377) 44.5%

40 - 59 (151) 17.8%

60 - 79 (31) 3.7%

80 PLUS (6) 0.7%


There are tiny hints of the over 60s going up (from under 4% to 4.4%) and the under 40s falling (from over 80% to 77.8%) - in the past week.

Could easily just be a blip as the over 80s moving from 3 to 6 makes a bigger difference than in reality it should.

But this stat is going to be very important now so I will keep posting it daily

Pity England only offer 5 day old heat maps of this stat. But we need to keep our eye on that too.

The diabetic statistic is so generalising , I Wonder how many basically fit , not overweight diabetics are included in these lists?
Type 1 or type 2 ,, I can’t find definitive answers anywhere.

So total deaths today 20 - with out of hosputal England to come and any deductions (one of the 16 today was from last year). Last week it was just 8.

And cases for the three nations 1636 - the most in several months by the way

Was 7393 last week - so a pretty big leap - up around 50%

From 1, 088, 510 pillar 1 & 2 tests

19 all settings deaths

This is the highest death number since 20 on 11 May. 5 weeks ago.

We won't be out of this on the 19th July .this delta variant really taking hold now, hotspots throughout England. The NW is a mess

Greater Manchester is way up today sadly.

Though Bolton and Stockport with their high vaccinations still come out reasonably OK.

Manchester highest numbers in many months on 335 and just keeps going up sadly.

Wigan also is on its highest number since last winter at 193. More than doubled in a fortnight.

They are well vaccinated too.

But Bolton's increase to 121 and Stockport's to 93 look tame given that.

Bury also over 100 and Salford on a new high at 137.

The lowest score in GM today was in Rochdale and that was up day to day and week to week at 79.

Highest 'low' score in some while in the county.

When you see those figures, it's hard to argue that delaying "freedom" day by 4 weeks isn't the right decision.

Hospital admissions up too. Worrying times and the next week will tell us what our next 12 months is really gonna look like.

Nothing seems to add up to me. Apparently it’s more contagious, more likely to send you to hospital and more likely to lead to death. They are saying we are already on over 20k infections a day, 90% of which are the delta variant, yet hospitalisations are riding slowly and the infection to death rate is around 0.3%. What is it to be?

Well it’s clearly more contagious by the R rate going up to 1.44. I haven’t been following the stats so I wouldn’t know about the rates of hospitalisations and deaths.

I just know it’s been a difficult week for people who base their Covid opinions on their politics with so many people getting upset by a full crowd for a football match in Hungary

Of 1317 infections in Scotland

43 are in people aged 65+ (feels like only yesterday that this number was in the low single digits, it's sadly growing as overall case numbers accelerate)
202 in people aged 45-64

471 in people aged 25-44
596 in people aged 0-25 (Inclusive of 229 aged 0-14)

Ayrshire and arran up double week on week from 52 to 104

Greater Glasgow huge increase week on week from 205 to 372

Lanarkshire up more than treble week on week from 51 to 161.

Grampian likewise from 17 to 64

I think any early thoughts of this being a 'bump' or starting to plateau have sadly evaporated. Realise there was a data error last week but they specifically stated this only accounted for 150-200 cases overall, so it's not pretty regardless of how you dress it up.
