The money that’s being made from this is a scandal. Absolute piss take.

Sadly very true.

Prices are capped in Europe (something like 30 euro max for an antigen and 75 euro max for a PCR), but as it's not regulated here we literally have our pants pulled down.

It's not quite as bad anymore but some places, particularly in London, will still charge hundreds for a PCR test.

I understand they cost $1.13 to manufacture.....

I'm sure the Gov are in on it too (they have ''approved'' providers) so these testing requirements will likely be around for a long while yet whilst the powers that be can fill their grubby coffers.

No, we paid for one with chronomics and took it with us. Got discount with BA. It was £22.40 and we have just done it in the apartment. Result in 15 mins, you register it on their website (taking pic of the result) and then download certificate for flight home.
Yeah, flying with BA and saw that. Cheers!

Biontech COO

“We believe that the best approach at the moment to deal with the situation is to continue with a booster dose with the existing wild-type strain”.

Hmm. I am sure their 3rd jabs will boost immunity but I am also pretty sure that 6 months later we'll need a 4th jab! This needs checking.

You’re obsessed with variants, give it a rest…

They’ve been fine so far. Only used them for the return to UK LFT one so can’t comment on the others. It’s fairly hard to mess it up but if you did it’s easy to book one in the Canaries. Just found this easier to do in your hotel, results in 15 mins.
You only need the passenger locator form number for the day 2 test (for the UK passenger locator form) so no issue on using another provider if you mess up the one in Spain.
So is it like a lateral flow test then? Stick it up your nose test tube blue line for negative?

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DEATHS

By Region: 7 East, 35 London, 15 Midlands, 48 NE & Yorkshire, 25 North West, 10 South East 12 South West

Most in one trust 10 in Sunderland

In North West:- 4 Liverpool, 3 Pennine Acute, 2 Bolton, East Cheshire. East Lancs. Manchester, Stockport, Wirral and 1 each in Morecambe. Salford, Southport, St Helens, Warrington & Wigan

By Age:- 20 - 39 (2) , 40 - 59 (16), 60 - 79 (70) , 80 PLUS (64)

So the total deaths today with out of hospital England to come are 166

Last week the total was 162 - so pretty flat week to week - hopeful sign.

Last week on all settings that became 138.

123 of them from England. So a lot of discounted from the England hospital numbers as does happen with double counting.

No idea why England alone has to issue two sets of numbers two hours apart as it is always very confusing. The other 3 nations numbers are always the all settings one and England should do the same. But obviously now never will.

Even before COVID a PCR test would cost in the region of £200-500. Yes the materials needed are fairly cheap but PCR tests from preparation to results take 2-4 hours, have to be done by a skilled scientist and then there are logistical costs.

So the total cases from the three nations today with England to come are:- 2880.

Last week it was 2679 - 201 less So pretty flat all told and would be down but for N Ireland. Up 223.

Last week England added 19, 012 to the total for UK to equal 21, 691 - the lowest point in this recent fall. It has since been up for a few days then down for a few over the weekend as nearly always happens.

Yesterday the 3 nations total was 3246 - England added 21, 915 to the total for UK to equal 25, 161 - lowest point since last Monday.

Wk before UK numbers on Tuesdays:

21, 691 (3 Aug) - 23, 511 - 46, 558 - 36, 660 - 28, 773 - 20, 479 - 11, 625 - 7673 - 6048 - 3165 (1 Jun)
