Even before COVID a PCR test would cost in the region of £200-500. Yes the materials needed are fairly cheap but PCR tests from preparation to results take 2-4 hours, have to be done by a skilled scientist and then there are logistical costs.

That's fair enough, but when the cost of a PCR test in most European countries is capped at 75 Euro (about £65 quid), yet some companies over here still charge hundreds, then it's clear we are being ripped off.

They could reduce the price significantly and still make plenty of £££ on every test.

146 all settings deaths - up just 8 on last Tuesday.

23, 510 cases - down 1651 on yesterday.

It will likely be uphill for the next 3 or 4 days as last week but that it has matched the weekend fall to the lowest point on Tuesdays and dropped this low - just 1819 UP On last Tuesday - is pretty good news.

Pillar 1 & 2 tests btw were only about 800 down on last week and actually 39,000 up on yesterday.

So the positivity number is not really escalating either.

The media will doubtless report the deaths as the highest since 12 March - as it is - but not any of the context.

Such as they were still getting that many deaths FALLING there from well over 1000 deaths a day 5 or 6 weeks earlier. Despite then only having one quarter of the cases in the UK today.

Because the lack of vaccination then had made so many more sick than now and it was meaning many of them were still suffering in hospital or on ventilators after weeks there. And sadly still that many dying from infections they got weeks or months earlier.

Graph looks to show just over 100,000 which would agree with figures at https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Going on the light blue, which is new cases, it shows 235k (doesn't come across very clear on the pic when mixed in with the dark blue) but I thought that seemed unusually high....I've since read elsewhere that it was around the 100k mark so much more inclined to believe that than 235k.

Give it a couple of weeks and 235k could be a another daily occurrence over there, particularly given the stalling of the vaccine rollout.

Good luck to all the anti-vax, redneck Trumpster types, I think you're gonna need it.

Going to get very messy in the US.

A lad did a lateral flow test at work tested positive the whole pump had to isolate, takes a pcr test he’s negative everybody back, what a fucking con, how many holiday people are been tested positive when they aren’t
Read Lft's can have false positives but rarely false negatives so that's a little comforting apart from the confusion it causes.

Yep, How is it her fault her parents didn't take the vaccine? was she supposed to hold them down and force inject them?

I can fully understand her point. her parents didn't want it, she was fine with her parents making that decision but why should she get critizied for her parents choices? we have no idea if there were discussions or if she tried to get them to have it.
Everyone's choice not to get the vaccine but if anyone dies from Covid there's no reason for the rest of us to give two fucks about their deaths. I met an anti vaxer during my working day a few weeks ago, he's a Dipper fan from Macclesfield and at first I thought he's just shit scared of a needle, then his rant came, full of the biggest bull shit I've ever heard, deranged beyond belief. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, it's not his opinion, he's too fucking stupid, if he gets seriously ill i won't have any sympathy whatsoever.
