It's mad to think there are people choosing to hide away. Honestly, apart from wearing a mask when going into a bar/restaurant, keeping to social distancing and applying hand gel on entering shops my life has been 100% back to normal for the best part of 8 months.
Get vaccinated and crack the fuck on would be my advice. Appreciate that the UK is a bit different due to the amount of fuckwits knocking about but still..

I counted about three masks at the game on Wednesday. To be fair I think the vast, vast majority of people have got back to normal now and those that still behave as if it’s April 2020 just need more time I guess.

There are large numbers of vaccinated people catching and spreading covid so what is the vaccine passport for exactly?
Beacause, whilst the vaccinated can still catch and spread it, the transmission is far lower than in the unvaccinated. It's a numbers game to reduce overall transmission across the population as a whole. in terms of absolute numbers, the majority of the population is vaccinated so they will naturally make up most of the numbers. Remember that if the whole population were 100% vaccinated then the only people catching and spreading it would be vaccinated - but the rate of transmission would be far lower than if everyone were unvaccinated.

We have similar levels of infection at the moment to the peak in January but then everyone was locked down but now there are very few restrictions. Also hospitalisations are 1 quarter of what they were then and deaths around a tenth. All this is the effect of the vaccine.

The vast majority of people in England may have gone back to normal and stopped mask wearing, worldwide UK wide not so much. If that's the reason England / UK has some of the highest cases nubers now I'll let others decide.

Wales and Scotland you have to wear masks but their infection rate is worse, so I’m not sure. More likely we have the best test, track & trace system in the world so are catching them.

I'm double jabbed, but I'm defending the right of British people to make their own decisions when it comes to taking this vaccine. The fact that this is a controversial opinion these days is very, very, scary.
Get yourself jabbed to help protect yourself and others, very scary...

Aren’t other European countries seeing huge spikes now? I read Germany had record numbers of cases yesterday.

Hasn't the track and trace received much criticism due to being a bit of a shambles?
I suppose if Boris and his mates keep telling us it's the best in the world it must be true, they are a trustworthy lot after all.

In my view that is upside down.

We should be offering DISincentives to those who decline.

Giving people the idea that if they hang on and do not bother they will benefit in the long run by desperate politicians needing them to do what any decent human being would see as their civic duty unless they have sound medical reasons not to do so is like rewarding the greedy who put other people at risk. Their families included. Whilst they wait for the carrot.

We are at the point where the stick is needed imo. You have a job that interacts with the public a lot then you HAVE to be vaccinated or you lose your job to one of the many who did the right thing and lost theirs.

That is how we get out of this not waiting for the selfish to bother if they see having a jab as a win for themselves.

I respect many will disagree and I was initially opposed to this kind of persuasion as I thought Britain was a caring society. But the reason people who feel they are invulnerable due to age or fitness are waiting is because they expect there to be a benefit first.

In World War Two those who did not want to fight were sent down coal mines not given free passes to nightclubs. There WAS a choice but there was also a fair price to pay for making it.
Although I do think a 'stick' would generate better results, I don't see this government using that as a policy.

The issue with a 'carrot' policy instead is that in positively reinforces a view that someone needs to be bribed into taking this big, perceived risk of having a vaccine. It would entrench some people deeper into their view.

My opinion (as a fully vaccinated person) is to let people do whatever they want - but don't prevent businesses from making their own decisions either. If I run a pub and only want vaccinated people in, fine. Either get vaccinated and be a welcome guest or don't and enjoy your freedom of choice elsewhere.

Freedom goes both ways.

Germany are yes, not sure how mask wearing is going there , or any individual country for that matter. Scotland seems to be flatlining at about half the UK rate so theres that.My opinion thogh is there is no reason not have mask wearing it's easy and even if its only reduces transmission a bit then why not .
