I hate mask wearing, and as a speccy four eyes find them particularly inconvenient. As far as having my liberties crushed by 'the man' I think I can put up with it for a bit on the bus or in the shops though.

Masks significantly lessen the load a COVID positive person emits when breathing/coughing.
Given that a fair proportion of COVID positive people are asymptomatic, simply wearing a mask may well stop lots of people from contracting the virus.
