Seems a bit daft you can basically choose how much quarantine you do. Someone at work tested positive yesterday but has decided to tell track and trace symptoms started on Sunday so he gets out in time for Christmas. You'd hope his symptoms didn't start on Sunday as he was in work both days...

The police aren't going to enforce it. You could tell the truth and still have Christmas, you're just potentially harming your friends and family (and anyone else you come into contact with). Stupid and selfish but not a lot anyone can do about it.

Not all down to conditions not treated though some will be probably, short staff and GPs not opening up. Bed blocking due to lack of care staff in the homes and community causing many problems in hospitals too.

Agreed but those wanting admission are mainly due to conditions not being treated previously

It's more like 1,500 deaths per day on average and this rises a little in mid-winter.
