Daft question.

Just booked my booster. My first two jabs were Pfizer. Is the booster a different manufacturer, or does it not matter?

I was kind of expecting there to be a question of which vaccine I'd been given.

doing Pfizer double jab and then Moderna booster is a higher risk for complications according to reports. Any other combo is fine so if I were you I'd make sure you get Pfizer. The key bit is AZ double jab isn't very good now so a booster with Pfizer/Moderna is the biggest jump in reducing your risk of hospitalisations you can make. So if anyone has had AZ jabs get a booster now.

Any source for that? I had two Pfizer's and the booster is going to be Moderna so would be interested to read that research

Just back from Tesco (Prestwich) and pleased to see the vast majority wearing masks. Unlike last week when I went in and the majority were maskless.
Bit worried about going to Newcastle tomorrow in a minibus of 16. Can’t envisage anybody wearing a mask and the same in Companion’s Bar in Newcastle and the same in the ground concourse etc. It’s going to be pot luck if I get covid for Christmas or not. Had all three jabs and also had covid in January so hoping it’ll bounce off me. Reckon there’s going to be loads of people who won’t go to football again until it starts going back down again (infection rates)

Open as many windows as you can. All you can do besides masking up.

Here are the day to day London patients over the last 2 weeks:-

1069 - 1057 - 1087 - 1102 - 1134 - 1136 - 1163 - 1193 - 1185 - 1253 - 1360 - 1349 - 1372 - 1460 - 1534.

You do not need to be a mathematician to see where Omicron became a factor in driving these up and that was not after more than at most a few days if that.

Where they go over the next week will quickly tell us what will happen everywhere else and if we really are in big trouble.

London Cases in that same period went from 6741 two weeks ago to 9988 a week ago to (in the last three days of that big patient rise) from 12,832 to 26,608 yesterday - easily the most cases now any region has ever had in one day in the whole pandemic.

For context North West is currently up too but only risen a fraction of that rise in the past few days and just under a quarter of the London total (7999).

Sorry for data in here but it is important in pointing up what to look out for around your discussion being had here to tell us where we will be over Christmas with regards to the NHS numbers.

The only thing that really matters right now as to what politicians may do.
The 25% of people unvaccinated in London is undoubtedly a huge factor in this.

Bumped into an old school friend yesterday in a Boots Store, no mask. He’s off to Gambia Friday with his Gambian wife. Said he’s not having the jab because he doesn’t believe Covid exists, he also said very loudly “fucking state of the queues in here” proper embarrassing, I asked him not to swear and reminded him it’s Christmas shopping time, he said “I dont give a fuck”, ironically his Birthday is December 25th.

Anyway I looked it up on the net, he will have to have a negative PCR test less than 72 hours before he flies, on arrival in Banjul he will be tested again and if positive will be held at a “Government Facility” for 10 days and will need to test negative before being allowed out. On his return to England he will have to self isolate for 10 days and have pre booked PCR tests on day’s 2 and 8. So for the sake of being jabbed he’s going to pay around £200 in PCR tests, a fee in Gambia for a test and a couple of weeks off work in January.

I just don’t understand the stupidity of people like him, the schadenfreude in me hopes he gets the virus and misses the holiday or even better he’ll held in a mud hut in Gambia for 10 days whilst his Mrs gets pummelled by the Village Mr Big.

Agreed. In Greater Manchester Manchester has poorer vaccinaton numbers than most others and has seen the biggest relative case rise in past week - though alongside Stockport probably second most and they have the best vaccination record in the county. But also the fewest who have had Covid across the pandemic so more targets right now.

So it is likely a mix of several things.Big shopping areas like Trafford, Manchester and Stockport will also spread things I imagine given the markets and Christmas and these are - by no coincidence I think - the three boroughs in the GM 10 that seem to be having the most increase lately presumably with Omicron driving that.

Okay, appreciate that. Thanks, mate.

Spot on.
I had 2x Pfizer and Moderna booster: no bad effects at all.

I still go on and make a free flowtest per week (in Hamburg) as Omicron will easily infect me if I give him/her the chance ;)

Anybody has a responsibility how to behave - irrespective from the political system around. Hospital staff are working their arses off since months and that alone is reason for me to contribute my part, and it's a very very small part. I'm still a free man.

Interesting that they were still reporting very low numbers of Omicron hospital cases yesterday on the radio. Circa 20 i think. Are you sure these are Omicron related?

Studies in Germany said the highest effect to boost the antibody level is a cross vaccination of 2x Pfizer and a Moderna boost.
Be happy to be a booster man soon. Hope all goes well mate.
Ah, and don't wait for jab reactions. The mind does play a role as well. As always.

No data saying which are which to judge, but they have stated that the Omicron cases in London rose from under 10% to over half in days and are now pushing 70% or so in the matter of that week - so on that basis it suggests the rise was driven by its clear rapidity of becoming dominant.

But I assume this is largely extrapolation based on factoring up the cases they do identify from the cases not tested to that degree to know. As they are only proving as Omicron much smaller numbers of the overall cases daily.

I’ve tested Positive
definitely felt tired, achey and lightheaded all week. But my fault going out a lot to packed places.

what’s frustrating is if i just did LFT I would be showing negative- yet first PCR test and I’m positive

Mental seeing social media this morning. So many people out cramming into bars and clubs last night, just before Christmas.

Is it worth the risk of ruining Christmas for a night out?

Why would it ruin Xmas for them? I assume most people out last night will have whatever Xmas they want regardless of what the government say.
