My dad worked at Vitafoam in Middleton then moved to Vitacom in Clayton. Still got the carbon black in his finger nails 20 years since retiring!
Nasty stuff, they also made it at a factory on Shepley, my mate worked there and constantly complained about it.

Perhaps those admitted to hoapital arnt as ill like the data from SA indicated. Didnt the data indicate that people were in hospital for significantly less time compared to delta?

They probably know how many were admitted because of covid and how many just happen to have it. If 1 in 10 Londoners have it then at least 10% off all hospital admissions would have it.

Be interesting to see what the anti vax crowd do when Plaxovid soon becomes available as an oral anti viral that can be taken at home which the scientific community are citing as a potential game changer to the hospitalisation issue - UK government has put in an initial order of 250K at a cost of USD 570.00 a course.

Will an anti vaxxer who catches covid and starts to become ill suddenly question the chemical components of Plaxovid that has also been fast tracked to market? No, they will just conveniently re-position the dial of their moral compass from selfish twat to self preservation and will neck their pills as soon as they can.

They’re anti vax not anti medication, surely 2 different things? One you take when you’re ill, the other you take to stop you getting ill.

I know that there is a spectrum of different reasons not to take the vaccine between those who are vaccine hesitant and anti vaxxers so it's not a binary topic.

I have read and spoken to people that will quite happily take their flu jab but not the covid jab - what's the difference? By your stated logic these anti vaxxers would refuse to administer the HPV vaccine to their 12-15 year old children. Studies have already shown since the HPV vaccine was rolled out 12 years ago it has reduced pre-cancerous cervical disease by up to 71%.

When we pick through the bones of all this in the future, i'm fairly certain that malign forces through the medium of social media will have played a big part in this and have said before thank god social media was not around when the world managed to eradicate smallpox through a global vaccination programme. A lot of opportunist entrepreneurs have made a lot of money this time round by targeting and fuelling anti vax online content to sell alternative natural therapeutics.

I have more sympathy for people from poorer countries that have strong cultural objections to a vaccine as they have little or no access to any scientific information, I read today that in many parts of Africa they believe it makes you impotent - some situations will be beyond our control.

Bit surprised at no action seeing the hospital numbers over Christmas.

They have escalated dramatically and North West probably had the worst of it

England were 7366 patients Christmas Eve FELL to 7166 Christmas Day, Rose to 7536 Boxing Day and absoloutely went through the roof today adding 948 in 24 hours to 8474 today.

Big rises in most places but especially in London and North West. North West is now rising fast as London was last week and tracking in the same way.

Guess they are hoping this was a large daily one off due to the holidays and it may settle tomorrow. As it mght.

If it carries on at these numbers though things will change infortunately.

1281 - highest in months - were admitted ON Chrismas day.

Todays will probably eclipse that but admissions are 48 hours behind.
But what is the capacity?

Devils advocate.

we do. Cigs and booze have large Duty’s on them that help fund the NHS.

people unvaccinated have already rejected a preventative solution to the issue. Should the NHS foot the bill for more expensive solutions when individuals have rejected what is available?

alcoholic’s get offered help but won’t be given a liver transplant unless they prove the are over the drinking.

the obese are offered diets but won’t be give some treatments unless they lose weight.
Etc etc.
That’s not really a devil’s advocate comment. It’s common sense.
